Hi,
I have purchased mirror's edge on GOG but can't figure out how to get rid of the fps cap. Solutions I find online are to modify the TdEngine file but I don't have such a file. I have BaseEngine file where I can change bSmoothFrameRate from True to False or change the MAX value but if I do the game won't start because it considers the file corrupt. What can I do ?

Which file are you editing? For Unreal Engine games, there are often two sets : The one inside the game folder that are used as a template for the ones the game creates inside your Windows profile folder. The correct one to edit is %USERPROFILE%\Documents\EA Games\Mirror's Edge\TdGame\Config\TdEngine.ini rather than the one in the game folder. If you've accidentally messed up the ones in your USERPROFILE folder, simply delete them and the game should recreate them. If you've messed up the config files inside the game folder, you may need to reinstall. It might also be worth checking that whatever you're using to edit them isn't saving them with a different / non-default encoding (ANSI vs Unicode, etc).

Another place to look would be your graphics card drivers. There may be a way to override in game settings. (Nvidia has per-game profiles. which can be edited in greater detail with the nvidia profile inspector. I expect AMD has somthing similar, but Intel won't have anything as good)

A word of caution. Many games of that era had no concept that anyone would want to play above 60fps, so they never coded for that eventuality.

You may find that cutscenes and ingame physics go bonkers when the frame cap is removed.
