My question/issue is basically the following...

On GOG profiles one can set a background of their choice via the "Personalize" option. It's my understanding that, outside of the default ones available, each game you own on GOG should also generate an available background in those same settings for you to choose, should you want to.

For instance, I have all the default backgrounds showing, along with one for Mortal Kombat 4, which I purchased on here years back. However, that is the only game-specific background that appears as an option for me, despite me owning other games besides that one. Here are the only two hypothetical possibilities I could think of, none of which I've been able to get the answer to, even from GOG Support.

-Do only certain games come with backgrounds?
-Does it take a really long time for said backgrounds to populate the Personalize options or something?

I'm just curious as to why I can't choose a background themed to one of my owned games, besides just that one. This isn't a HUGE deal, obviously, but GOG introduced the feature for a reason. Even personalizing your profile to that limited of a degree will always appeal to some people more than a boring default look. In the wise words of N.W.A, sometimes you just want to"Express yourself". You feel me? Lol.

1. Not every game comes with a profile background. I've even seen them delete a profile background once without warning or explanation (Planet of Lana Goodie Pack). It seems you're just unlucky. Most of my games came with a profile background.
2. The moment you add the game to your account, you get access to the profile background (if available). I like to set my profile background to what I'm playing at the moment.

Ah, okay. I could have sworn that I saw one of mine, Ultima Underworld 2, had a profile background and avatar and other goodies it came with. Maybe that was a desktop wallpaper...can't find it again.

Thanks for the heads up on not every game coming with one. That's a shame. All tghey'd have to do it just make it the thumbnail image, blown up, and without the transparent title text over it. Oh, well...

I'm pretty sure every game that has it's store entry should have background, because graphic used is the same as on top of store page. I vaguely remember having background for Syndicate, which I got at the same time as Ultima Underworld, but now can't find neither. Possibly a bug.

Worth noting is that profile background has been bugged on Galaxy for months.
No matter what you choose on your web profile, Galaxy will show an unrelated image of some castle.

I pored over my collection and opened support ticket 326626 for the 25 items with no profile background. Probably a complete waste of time, given that not even the simplest things get fixed.

Honestly, I'm not even sure what the profiles here on GOG do, given the absurd lack of social features to key into.

We can't find our own reviews, we can't curate collections, GOG sure as heck doesn't have anything resembling modding integration, and vast swathes of people reject Galaxy as a concept.

Got the following response from support:

"Please note that Goodie collections will, in most cases not provide you with a background. Please note that game backgrounds are bonus items and not a compulsory addition with any given game. Should a game not provide it then this is by design. That said we appreciate that you enjoy collecting these and will let the appropriate team know about this and that you would appreciate looking into this matter and quite possibly extending the background bonus to other items, like bundles etc."

In short, my report has been passed on, which is the same canned response I always get. I need to learn not to bother anymore.
