For example, on Steam I can search for the "Turn-Based" tag. On Gog the only thing I can see is Genre. The "feature list" (and I use that term extremely loosely) is usually a single listing, such as "single player". I must be missing something, right? There is no way Gog wouldn't allow me to search for something specific like turn-based RPGs.

With GOG there is always a way to not allow users to do something they want. I'm sorry, dude.

I'm afraid these very general 'tags' are all there is. I'm still hoping the reason these things aren't being fixed is because GOG is working on some sort of revolutionary system, otherwise I don't know what they're doing. There's no other excuse for not adding simple search features. I would offer to fix this problem in a day or two but I don't think they'd take it.

When you look at the top row and navigate to "STORE" => "Browse all games", you'll come to GOG's catalogue, which allows you to filter according to several options. One of them is by FEATURES. You'll only find some basic features though, but still better than nothing. Unfortunately "turn-based" is missing.

https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Agog.com%2Fgame+turn+based&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

To explain, all of the game listings are in the 'game' subdirectory which is what the site prefix restricts the search to. Add to that what you're looking for.

If someone can point at an example of a turn based game, we may be able to refine it a bit more. It's screaming kids day here in the library and it makes it hard for me to think straight.

edit: Scratch that. There is a searchable tag: https://www.gog.com/games?sort=bestselling&search=Turn-based&page=1

GOG games do have tags - you can see them on the store page for each game - but for some reason, there's currently no way to browse them directly. If you select 'Browse all games' from the Store menu, filter by 'Strategy' under Genre, and type 'turn-based' into the search box, this should show you all strategy games with the Turn-based tag.

Edit: Heh, drmike got there before me.

You could try using MaGog . It has a Genre filter at the top.
Another option: Do a google search for relevant gog mixes: site:gog.com/mix/ turn-based

I can't believe that nobody who's posted so far seems to be aware of this [EDIT: clearly I didn't read all the responses before posting...], but simply typing one of those "genre" tags in the search field (either in the nav bar present on any page of the site other than the Support section, or on the browse/search page) will bring up all games using that tag (as well as any games that have that word or phrase as part of the title or developer/publisher name[s]). It's not the greatest way to handle this, but it works okay. (Also, you can search for multiple terms at once by using | (the vertical bar) as a separator; each term will add new results, though, rather than narrowing them down.)
