Just asking this because I downloaded it twice... and for it's size (two segments of the download are 4g each of the 6+ segment set and then patches) it gives me the same error :

"Program can't start because Api-ms-win-crt-string-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

I'd love to be playing the game, but each download is roughly an all day sort of thing given size. Is there a patch or something I'm missing to just give that one file maybe?

Have you tried GOG Galaxy?

Everspace has two different installers. One is 64 bit and the other one is 32 bit. It contains 3 parts each. The executable and 2 .bin files of 4 GiB and 0,9 GiB / 0,8 GiB. Look at the file names which one you installed.

If reinstalling doesn't help, you could try the steps on this website. Scroll down and read attentively before downloading the file.

Druidstone seems to be giving me the same issue now.

I generally try to install the offline variants of the game as I don't want to have to rely on being online and attached to Galaxy. And I'd installed all offline content.

What version of Windows do you use?

It doesn’t sound like an installer issue, more something missing from your system.

Oh, and be very careful about downloading any dlls to try to fix it.

Thats an old C runtime file... try this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3118401/update-for-universal-c-runtime-in-windows install that restart and try again.

If that doesn't work you'll need to grab all the C runtimes and install them. easiest way is automate it go here: https://patchmypc.com/home-updater-download

run this and select ALL the C runtimes restart your machine and try again.

The win 8.1 (x64 and x86) variants on the windows site say their link destinations are kaput with 404's. just a heads up to you.

8.1 would be your problem, upgrade that bad boy to 10, issue will resolve itself, and or you'll get compatible updates. you'll only have a harder time making things work as time rolls on without upgrading. Its still free if you need help let me know. I tried evespace though galaxy downloaded the installer, they all worked in 10 x64 Pro 1909

Go to here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 download tool now and when you run it say "Upgrade this PC now" 99% chance it will work and you'll have a full licensed free edition of 10.

If I‘m not mistaken, the game card says „Windows 7,8,10“. I would open a ticket with support. They should be able to solve the problem.

Still online. For some weird reason it doesn't seem to be bundled with the game installer.
Try to install 2017 both the x86 and x64 versions.

To check wich versions you ha installed right-click on start menu -> programs and apps

Literally went to a YT vid for an attempt to fix by uninstalling and reinstalling the CRT. Even when running as admin and when attempting a hard reinstall it does not allow the program to install fully or activate. The install gave out just prior to completion for the files install and gave an "unspecified" error. -shrugs-



For what it's worth to the man suggesting just to update to win 10. No. Thanks. Too many older programs settle firmly on 7/8 and refuse to run on anything newer. Not about to surrender the larger library for two games that are being stubborn about a c++ file. 8 is trash, that's a given, I'm not about to flip it though.
