I don't have regional pricing here on GoG. I'm curious if Paradox increased prices of their games here on GoG too.

They increased all prices at Steam before summer sale :)

So far, doesn't seem to have increased here, at least not with Pillars of Eternity, which I was just comparing to steam. I'm eager to know if there will be a price increase on GOG as well, although I fully expect there to be. Frankly, their price inflation is ridiculous (45% for PoE) and it makes me think twice from buying any games published from them.

Edit: doing a bit of research, haven't found any game with price increase in GOG, so far. Checking on steam, indeed many games have had an increase, some over 50% increase.

Base prices on GOG for currently discounted titles:

The reason for this is to make our prices match the purchasing power of those areas, as well as create a more equal price point for our products across the globe.

What a bunch of assholes. Pillar of Eternity: Royal Edition cost nearly 90$ (US) here and they still think it's underpriced???

Isn't it the price in those regions like Russia that's the issue, not the US price?
The Russian price was probably something like $1 when converted.

It's interesting that when companies take "the strength of various currencies, fluctuations in world markets and many other factors" into account, prices rarely ever go down...

In the OP you can see that they've increased the prices for many regions including the EU (which was the price point I was referring to).

Not quite sure I understand this. It costs them X amount to produce a game, which then goes onto the net for people to buy and download. How does someone being in country a or country b affect this? Tax, yes I could understand that, but just happening to be country a doesn't increase the cost to Paradox one iota. Surely this is just taxing rich countries to up your own profit margins?
Or perhaps they need to continuously feed their DLC machine?

Their prices are already rough and they will be just ludicrous. Pillars of Eternity Royal Edition here is regionally priced at $49 right now and if it's increased should be expected to go for about $73. Compare that to Witcher 3 GOTY which is priced at $32, a fair price in my opinion, for the amount of content it offers.

Pretty ridiculous move, and seeing the wide ranging scale of this price hike, I fully expect the same to happen on GOG once the sale is over. Thankfully I got the game (Pillars of Eternity) much cheaper through the crowd funding years ago. Otherwise I simply wouldn't buy it. No game is worth a price like that, especially now in the digital age. At least with a boxed copy, proper manual and stuff like that, I can understand a price of $50-60. But now, when logistics is a piece of cake, it is simply milking your customers.

Most still remain customers though, which is why practices like this can go on.

Increasing prices before a sale just means the discounts can be even more impressive. Who buys during normal price times anyway? The question is if prices during sales have gone up? If so, probably less people will buy Paradox games. They are good but not great (usually).

Actually the prices old and new are seen in the image above. The price for basic "Pillars of Eternity" was 799 RUR (about $14). On GOG it's approx. $14 / $18 / $26 for Hero / Champion / Royal.

Hmm. I thought that is the way marketing works nowadays. It's not my fault, they do it like this. It's their freedom to ask for prices not everyone wants pay and they probably only stop it if not enough people are buying anymore. So why shouldn't they increase prices if it increases their profit? Occasional price increases are normal in a market economy. We cannot always expect prices to only fall.

On the other hand, who is buying their games for these prices? They will go bankrupt soon, if they continue like this. It's not like there didn't exist other nice games for much lower prices.

It was an exaggeration for comedic effect.

That's not a good move from Paradox. USA prices are the same and the rest is paying more? I doubt that they will see more of my money for this treatment.
