Starcraft 1 on Blizzard's site is already free, correct? Despite this, do you think it could be worthwhile for GOG to bring Starcraft 1 here (if Blizz gave them permission obviously), even as a freebie? Or would it be a waste of time and resources? I feel like it'd be worthwhile - if for no other reason than some fresh press/gaming headlines - but perhaps not.

Or are there some improvements/features GOG could implement to make the game worth $5.99?

(Perhaps Blizzard might not want to take focus or money away from Starcraft Remastered, though.)
I imagine that the game being free wouldn't give much of a revenue for the chore of setting the whole thing to work through Galaxy?

Don't really see it happening, but certainly wouldn't dislike seeing it. Unless GOG also sells the remaster, I have a hard time imagining how would it work.

edit: fixes.

They could sell the remaster, set up for cross-play between Galaxy and Battle.net, and include the original as a bonus.

This is usually the case though yes... so... maybe in a few/many years. :-) And I wouldn't mind having to pay some money for it as long as it would end up on my shelf here as well instead of Battle.Net. :)
I'd readily pay $10 for the original Starcraft on GOG. The ability to back-up my install files is kinda important.

Starcraft 1, never heard of it.
I personally don't think it would give a big enough return either through publicity or revenue to justify bringing just Starcraft 1 here. There is very little chance that they would get permission from Blizzard to do it anyway since giving away the first game was a stunt for their own site.
I can't see why they would want competition against their own product, Starcraft: Remastered, which they sell at their own store.

You *must* have heard of Starcraft though, right? I don't see a reason to quibble over semantics, unless your post is honest. Anyway, i already own the retail version of Starcraft, so i would not hurry to buy the GOG version. You can't go wrong with a freebie though... The remaster and the original version as a bonus would be the most logical thing for GOG and its customers.

Alright then. It's an excellent game, spent quite some time with the game and the editor when i was younger; check it out if you're in the mood for a sci-fi RTS game.

BEHOLD
Not sure that it's possible - as AFAIK - the free download from Blizzard incorporates the assets from the remastered version - which are enabled if the paid upgrade is activated on the account.
That is a very interesting idea, I like it. Though I'd say it would be even more beneficial for both GOG and Blizzard if you could purchase StarCraft Remastered on here as an excellent alternative to having to get it on Battle.net. A move like that would deliver some positive press for both companies, and I bet you it would make a lot more people aware that there even is a StarCraft Remaster, as unless you already own StarCraft on Battle.net you probably don't even know it exists. But that's of course far too beneficial and intelligent of a move for Activision to allow it, Blizzard obviously being Activision's bitch these days.
