Hi there GOG users!! I wanted to just talk with the community and this seemed like the place to do it ;w;

I discovered GOG a couple years ago but didn't truly give it the light of day until recently, and.. I really wish I had. :')
Reading about everything this site does, and how dedicated it is to it, well, it made Valve look like Epic Games XD

Especially with its games preservation program, I've always been more interested in older games, so this place is literally perfect for me! But unfortunately, little me back in 2019 didn't know wtf a "GOG" was, so 6 years, and over 150+ steam games later, I feel locked in. But, starting recently I decided to finally push myself to start the long long transition from steam over to GOG, and so far I'm just so happy.

I've always been a stickler for preservation because my memory isn't very good, so to know that my future games here are gonna be safe.. Honestly it kinda makes me wanna cry. Thank you, GOG.
Hello, welcome to Gog.
This store is better for owning games, BUT it also requires more patience, since its budget is smaller and devs don't always behave.. check this doc for missing stuff before purchasing:

That's exactly how Valve wants you to feel, and imho the main reason why it was a good idea of GOG to position Galaxy as a client for all games, regardless of where you bought them.

Over a lifetime, 150 games is a drop in the bucket, so good on you for starting to transition. There's no time like the present!
To be fair the preservation program is basically what gog has been doing sense Day 1 .. its just now whatever games is allowed in the preservation program pretty much don't need eevery tweak and change they do to the game in someway aproved by the ones currently having the rights to the ip or atleast the game rights okay each and every time to do something they want or need to do to the game ..

Basically, the program to a degree streamlines the process they already was doing on some level

But ya I also wished I knew of Gog before I found it as while I ain't anywhere near as ''locked in'' to Steam because I often got my games there when they was dirt cheap or freebies .. I still wished I hadn't spent that much cash on Steam when there was then and still is in fact a drm-free storefront on pc with most games I want or will have most I want later on.. Which I have most of my game libary from steam now on Gog and way more in fact.. that and they play better then the Steam versions in general for me

I think the only games I have a hard time seeing coming here currently is most of the ones right now are games done by Ubisoft .EA and the like .. Granted some other companies while still willing to play ball are still ones I see as up in the air atleast for older games .. unless the parent company or the ones who hold the other rights to the ip gets firm on bring the games here .

Anyway ya you picked a fairly great time to full on join Gog as it seems more big name game companies are willing to ''play ball'' in terms of drm-free releases or more willing then they had been in the past atleast even bring games day one or close to it that or atleast willing to announce the games are coming to Gog now rather then be silent and let them shadow drop here

But now they are atleast open to afew months window of release having a announcement of such for both new games and rereleases of games

Among other stuff like that ..

Granted there is also new problems that has cropped up with Gog to or problems Gog has had but has gotten worse over the years where its a real problem now ..

But I'd say for now the good outways the bad at this time at the very least

...

With that said though Welcome to Gog hope you enjoy Gog and thrive here

150 games is not a lot to keep you locked into Valve's launcher! Chances are you could also rebuy some of them here - not that I encourage it, but it's an option. Can also start with getting to know other games, such as indies or even some oldies. Welcome aboard!

You can also subscribe to Amazon Prime, the sub includes a lot of quality GOG games monthly if you're okay with subs.

Never is too late, keep your games bought and use Galaxy to link your accounts. I have. +1k games here and about 300 on steam, it depends, sadly there are not a lot of games here but it is my first shop. If a game is here i buy it on gog, and with big discounts repurchased games from steam.
Welcome to GOG! :)

I'd be willing to bet that it won't take you very long to surpass that number on GOG and that it will not take longer than a year to amass 1,200–1,500 titles. Lots of free games to get you started, never-ending sales events, and a growing number of interesting releases... so, be prepared to see your wallet bleed! ;)

I suggest you check every month the amazon prime games for gog, every month there are a lot of games with the amazon subscription. In only one year they have gifted about one hundred games.

Welcome. GoG has its problems but from my experience, it has been great so far. I only discovered GoG when I was pirating The Witcher. I was reading the comments for any red flags when I came upon one with the name CDPR and the wolf medallion profile pic telling people to try the game out and purchase it from GoG if they like it. Unusual marketing but they got me. GoG is my first digital games distributor. If it wasn't for Elden Ring, I would only be using GoG.

Yes, Prime is also a great source for some free content on GOG, and there’s truly no shortage of fantastic deals available directly on the store itself. Additionally, there are giveaways from generous community members, discount-code sharing, and the option to trade for games. So, your library will grow quickly, depending on how much money you’re willing to spend.

Have fun, spend, spend, spend, and enjoy playing your booty! :-)
Hello o3ovan and welcome to GOG. Very nice to have you here :) Cheers
