I had installed Galaxy in a custom folder named "C:\Games-GOG", I had uninstalled Galaxy and in the new installation I choose to continue the default folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy". Now my old custom icons don't work anymore. For example:

C:\Games-GOG\GalaxyClient.exe /command=runGame /gameId=xxxxxxxxxx /path="C:\Games\Pillars of Eternity"

(I've replaced the ID number for "xxx..." because I don't know if this is some kind of personal information).

Well, I have manually C:\Games-GOG changed to: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy

My only guess is that the new installation have changed the ID number?

And still not launching. Any suggestions?

Why install anything to windows folders? I highly recommend not install anything to those folders, anything.

Do you mean my first installation in a custom folder, or the default installation in the Programs Files folder, or both?

Now I have installed Galaxy on its default installation, didn't made any customization. But the game does not generate it's launcher because I had it already installed, so what happens? It has a different ID?

Nope, nothing to do with galaxy, you said you had it installed in a folder other than windows folder, and now you want to install it to a wi does folder. I say neve install anything to windows folders, it's just a bad idea.

He just means that many applications can have problems (such as not being able to save settings or game progress properly) when you install them to either of the "program files" directories, since modern versions of Windows are extra protective of anything in these folders.

So, I've done "well" in my first custom folder installation, and "wrong" in my last default Program Files installation?

I can uninstall again and return to my first situation, just want to do the most recommended.

I honestly don't know. :P

Just to clear things up for anyone else who may try to help: are you saying that you have the Galaxy client installed in Windows' Program Files (x86) folder, but you have Galaxy install your games to C:\Games-GOG ?

It's kind of confusing your post. I think that you have some gog games installed on C:\Games and the galaxy client on the default installation folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy

Try to move all your gog games to C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games

Thats where the client install your gog games by default.

I think you need to go into Galaxy and re-scan the games folder to get the new Galaxy installation to pick up on the games. I'm not sure changing the shortcuts is enough.

I prefer to install all my games in the same directory "C:\Games"

Previous to the uninstall and re-install Galaxy, I had all games in that folder, but Galaxy was in a custom folder, now the only different is that Galaxy is in the default folder, games still in the same folder.

No, my games were always in the same folder "C:\Games".
Galaxy was in "C:\Games-GOG", now Galaxy is on the default "C:\Programs Files (x86)"

Then try the option: "search and import folder" and select your game folder, I translated from spanish not sure if its exactly called that in English , its the second option below redeem key in the galaxy client, click top left icon over the game list to see the option list.

Vamrem: C:\Games-GOG\GalaxyClient.exe /command=runGame /gameId=xxxxxxxxxx /path="C:\Games\Pillars of Eternity"
You shortcuts are looking for Galaxy in C:\Games-GOG - but you moved it to a different location.
I would put back Galaxy into C:\Games-GOG - I avoid C:\Program Files (x86) since Windows has its thumbs on it. Or replace the path in your shortcust with " C:\Program Files (x86)...".

The gameId holds no personal information - it's just the internal Id of the game in the GOG database.
