Hi people, fantastic news!

Homeworld 3 has been announced!
Gearbox is currently running a croundfunding campaign with some concept art and a trailer.
Check it out: https://www.fig.co/campaigns/homeworld3?media_id=i1538
The release is currently planned for Q4 2022.
Why the fuck would anyone want to support Gearbox through crowdfunding...?

Since Gearbox are PUBLISHING (and have gone Epic exclusive before through 2K) - put your own cash on the line Randy... FFS ><

Triple A - Fleece the end user for everything

Shit, sorry everyone, wrong planet again.

Turns out we actually came from somewhere else on the other side of the Galaxy, right near where we just came from. Better repack. We leave in fifteen minutes.
That's a mixed bag.
Homeworld 3? Yay!
Gearbox? Sigh...

Gearbox publishing, the game is being developed by BBI who did the Homeworld 1 and 2 remasters and Homeworld deserts of kharak.

BBI largely consists of ex-relic people.

Obviously you don't need the money; you've said so in the FAQ, not to mention that Gearbox Publishing is in the business of (if you couldn't guess by its name) publishing games.
If it is feedback that you want, why charge money for it? There are plenty of legitimate ways to do it. This is not what crowd funding is for. What you're doing is basically pre pre-purchase. Or as Devolver Digital put it: "Earliest Access", only this isn't a joke.

Disregarding all of that. This is Randy Pitchford's company. I don't trust him to tell me the weather.

Ok, but haven't they gutted multiplayer out of classic versions? And haven't they kind of made Homeworld 1 a mod for HW2 which caused to change/remove some aspects of HW1 gameplay?

About the MP for the classic, I have no answer for you.

Technically BBI "had to" as they couldnt upgrade the original engine to support the level of detail they wanted to add to the remasters some ex-relic people I have had contact with stated that the HW2 engine was intended to be their long term game development engine, I think even DOW1 uses a variation of it. and yes it did, it changed how corvettes behaved big time. the players patch fixes most of these issues, as BBI only did one patch and GBX took over patching then like atari with Blood: FS then stopped.
Thank you Tim Sweeney for graciously paying for my copy!
Exciting news! I have such good memories from playing Homeworld back in the day.
I am intersted in this, quite much, naturally as an old HW2 and HW1 player.
Yet i hold my expectations low, seeing the industry in the state it is....

My Hype ll go up once more info is out and definitly some of my personal expectations
are meet. Which one of them is, that this game gets a GoG release.

I don't have my hopes up. Homeworld 3 is most likely the inferior game compared to behemoths like the Complex mod, which offers far more depth than any of the two (three with DoK) Homeworlds. They have to offer something entirely new in order to provide the players with something, but I have my doubts.

Hopefully battles are much bigger than Homeworld 2's. Homeworld 1 offered a more skirmishy combat behavior and Homeworld 2 had wings/squadrons. Hopefully we se some new cool features but I'm not exactly hopeful as this game will most likely cater to nostalgia but I'd like to be proven wrong.
I was sorta interested in this until I saw the goal and the minimum for the game. They just want glorified preorders for $50+. The $1 goal is weird as hell. If this was a real campaign, it would have a reasonable goal along with both more tiers and lower cost tiers.

I think they meant to say that "cool" developer Geatbox already funded the game. It's in early stage and in their FAQ they specifically mentioned how they want to hear from their supporters, so new tiers might come up sooner or later.
I have absolutely no negative feelings about this campaign except for Gearbox, I just don't trust them one bit.
