I am on Linux. I saw this while investigating the Zorin OS. It says that it is as easy as logging into your GOG account and then downloading the file and hitting install. This will load Windows games onto your Linux system.

I've never found it quite that easy with a Windows game being installed on Linux (it can be easy, but normally not THAT easy for me).

Anyone have experience with the Heroic Games Launcher or know how it would work?

I would imagine it is a front end and you have to install Wine of some sort, though I can't find out how you would do that with the interactions of the HLG.

Does it work with a majority of Windows games? If so, I am HIGHLY tempted to start using it.

IF you know how it works, how compatible it is with current Windows games running on Linux, or any other answer regarding the Heroic Games Launcher I'd really be interested in hearing about it.

Thank You.

I used Heroic for a while (before moving back to Windows). No cloud saves or achievements, but otherwise functioned similar to Steam. It does use Wine & Proton; you can select specific versions of each and add custom launch arguments to each game. It was a fairly seamless experience for most GOG games, though I heard there can be issues with dosbox games.
I use Heroic Game Launcher and honestly it's one of the best front end's on Linux.

You do need to install WINE or Proton separately (There is a program I think called ProtonQt that can install many versions of Proton and WINE variations that Heroic can easily find)and you may need to make adjustments but many games have worked out of the box and the ones that have not you can easily switch to a different version of WINE or Proton.
I'm transitioning to Heroic as an experiment but there's a very big problem:

DOSBOX isn't supported currently. I'm also a mite wary of it basically being a browser in a box.
You already marked this topic as SOLVED, but seeing how I, literally, started using HGL 3 days ago I think it is prudent to give my input.

Yes. The one game I installed and played the last 2 days worked flawlessly out of the box. And from the looks of things - so would the other games that you can see when you login/connect your GOG account.

The Distro I have started to use came bundled with HGL, so my experience might be a tad different...

Upon starting HGL there was an option to update. Upon updating I logged into my GOG account. Upon logging in I saw my library and chose a game to install. The UI is very informative and gives links, such as - proton compatibilty. The game installed, and, had I had the required drivers I could have already started playing.

You can choose what version of WINE or Proton you want to use from a drop-down menu. It lists several dozen and gives you the option to download whichever you choose.

I cannot stress how informative the UI is.

I have currently reconnected my Win7 machine to check-up on some things so I cannot show you any screenshots. ;(
Just to be on the safe side - in a few hours I will try to install an Epic Games Store game I recieved as a freebie. Will post an update how that goes...
''Test'' took longer than expected.

Whelp, the game that I had hoped to play (Star Wars squadrons) wouldn't work... (pic1)
It has a ProtonDB rating of ''Silver'' meaning - some people have managed to get it to run.

Granted - this may be a case of EGS, since on Win7 it also wouldn't allow me to install the game. If I had it on Steam - maybe it would be possible.

The next game I tried (Hunter: call of the wild) (Pics 2 & 3) worked out of the box...

Didn't manage to capture a screenshot of the game (PrintScreen alt-tabs to desktop) but, well... it worked out of the box...
