Here is a free code for Gothic 3 to anyone who doesn't already own it. (4BF2F-A22E4-1225A-BF94C). I usually get a few extra copies of games that are on sale to give others. Cheers...
Thank you. Redeemed it after 5 minutes past, maybe the ninjas are still asleep.

Hey, it's the person who sent me the Chat messages! So, settle a question that I had: did you send the messages, then immediately change your contact setting to allow messages from friends only (or no one) -- which prevented me from replying -- or were you somehow able to send the messages regardless of your Chat settings?

No, I'm fine, thanks. :P I would like an answer, though, if you could.

I had a few codes i was looking to give away earlier. I messaged random ppl who appeared to be online from the forums. I ended up blocking my profile because of the negative comments i got from people who didnt get a copy of the last game i gave away. Some people are ungrateful and those are mostly Steam users who just recently joined in the last 2 years. It's alright. Cheers...

Okay, thanks for the explanation. Thanks also for the offer, but you did have me thinking you might be some sort of weird troll after you blocked me from replying mere minutes after your post. ;)

In the future, you might want to START with the forum giveaway thread (maybe using Chat as the final means of code delivery), rather than tossing out unsolicited messages to random users who aren't familiar with you and who might (quite reasonably) conclude you're a scammer.
No offience... But it's quite impossible to be a scammer when your giving away something for free. If some people lack social skills, then i see that as their own loss. I was very clear what i was giving away for FREE...

It was clear (to me) that your initial offer was for a free game, yes. But there have been quite a lot of scammers, spammers and trolls abusing Chat (and the forums) around here, and this sort of thing tends to make people suspicious, even when there are seemingly no strings attached.

And, as I said, it's rather unusual to get a Chat notification, then check your messages just a few minutes later and find yourself blocked from replying. If you saw the thread I created earlier (which I linked to above), you'll see that I was rather confused and slightly irritated. And the guy who replied to me in that topic was of the opinion that you were probably a troll. So you can see that your own intentions are not automatically going to be intuited in the best possible way.

You've explained what happened, and I'm not mad, I'm not bashing you or anything, I'm just trying to point out that it's an unusual way of going about giving things away to strangers -- a bit like getting a text message on your phone from a stranger, offering you $500 dollars, "no strings attached", for no reason. Would you take that at face value and immediately assume that it was a legitimate, good-faith offer? Would you even bother to reply?

Kudos to you for your generosity, but your largesse distribution methods need revising, is all I'm saying. : )

EDIT: And of course you edited your reply just a few minutes after I started typing this. Well, pay no mind to this post then. I was just trying to get you to see things from others' perspective, but it appears you're not quite as peeved about this as I thought. I'm going to bed before I piss off a perfectly well-meaning user. :)

Let me tell you - it's possible. You could ask "what for?" - to piss off other people, "how?" - to let their account be banned "for no reason". And again "how?" - scammer can buy any game and anywhere by using stolen CC and then "gift the key" to the other person. There are a lot of very similar "services" where such scammer can even earn some money (like G2A and Kinguin) but pissed off scammer can often be very happy just by causing other innocent people got banned.

I see. For future giveaways, i will advertise in the forums only.

Or the classic now you owe me...
"Well I've just given you a free game...I noticed you have game XXX in your trade list, can I have it?"

Not like I haven't received calls about the "free vacation I've won", all they need is my information then this, that or the other thing...

General rule to avoid scammers is whether something is "too good to be true", and I could see a free game falling into that category.

Best way is to just do a short raffle. Ask people to respond if they are interested and roll a die or use random.org to determine the winner. It also lets you do a little research to avoid serial scammers or perennial beggars. Not to mention, the person you are sending it to, may already own the game.

I understand. Was never asking for personal information. I was very blunt that i was giving away extra keys i had. I guess scammers exist everywhere but i just couldn't fathom one existing for a game that's on sale at $1.49.
