I found a link to a new download of the full game (English version, I believe. But you can always copy and paste any language files and see if they work.). After testing it on my system (Windows 8.0), the game is able to launch and run, with music & sound. However, there is a weird flickering of the mouse. And updating the game to the unofficial 1.4 patch oddly seems to worsen the situation. But perhaps, you can get things working better than I. I can send you the link (since you already own the game) via PM (enable your chat settings), if you'd still like to have it.

Another solution, is that you can try installing Dosbox (an emulator for older games that can't run on modern systems), and run the game from inside it.

Just move your game to the folder where Dosbox detects and runs the game.
Yeah I got the flickering as well, but I've fixed it. The game was made for windows 95, 98 and ME.

I take that back, when I start the game after character creation the game's frame rate is terrible, really choppy.

New suggestion: dgVoodoo2!

Search the internet for it, and download it. Then open the zip. Copy dgVoodooSetup to the main directory of the game. Now, in the zip, open the MS folder. Copy the three .dll's to the main directory of the game too. Run the unzipped dgvoodoosetup.exe. Click the .\ in the top left corner. Open the DirectX tab. Untick dgvoodoo watermark. Does it work now?

That helped the frame rate. I put in the other dll that the dgvoodoo page recomended as well, however now there's a weird teal highlight around everything that has text I tried taking a screen shot of it but it just captures my desktop. The sound is still not working either. But hey, there's one thing sort of fixed, thanks!

Ok, delete the optional dll's and any other optionals from dgvoodoo, so that you are only left with the three dll's and dgvoodoo setup. Do what I said in my previous post starting from 'Run the unzipped dgvoodoosetup.exe'.

Now, for the sound, do this:
1. Download a legal Windows 7 iso from Microsoft, here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows7 then download a virtual machine (I recommend Virtualbox). Set the VM software up, and create a new machine inside it. This will be for your Virtual Windows 7. Install it, skipping the part/s where it asks for product key, and go through until it is fully installed. Now, download the game again, and the sound should work as Windows 7, like phc7006 says, has emulation for DirectSound. If you have framerate problems, use dgvoodoo in the virtual windows 7.
For more info on installing Windows 7 in virtualbox, search for it on youtube! you'll find plenty of informative tutorials there!

I hope that helps!

Edit, if you have an older windows disc, use that instead - I have a windows xp virtual machine.
