Happy Independence Day (ID) to each and everyone, all around the world, and beyond!

So how do you normally celebrate THE Independence Day? Do you:

1. Stay home and watch the movie Unknown Soldier on the TV.
2. Stay home and watch on the TV the president shaking hands with a few hundred invited guests waiting in the line.
3. Go out and participate in the nazi parade.
4. Go out and participate in the antifascist demonstration and go harass the nazis.
5. All of the above.

I really wanted to make a joke about doing it all at the same time and how heavy it might be carrying around a television during all that then I remembered that a phone is basically that for too many people these days and the air just went right out of the haha balloon after that.

Independence Day, is that when zee amelicans saved the world from the alien invasion ?

There was a movie too, based on real events.
Happy day to all Finns!

We don't have an independence day but we call the fight against the Napoleonic invasion the "Independence War" . In English it is most often referred to as the "Penninsular War". The anniversary of the revolt (May 2) is a regional holiday in Madrid because that's where it all started. Which is great because May 1 is Labor Day, so there's a potential every year for a superlong weekend (not in 2020 though).

Coincidentally, December 6 is a national holiday here as well (Constitution Day).
