MysterD: Yeah, my statement was mostly general stuff - that sometimes, the best bet can be DirectX emulators and/or wrappers like DGVoodoo2, DXWnd, etc etc.
And let's not forget indirectsound, to get our beloved surround sound back in Vampire and similar games.

I wished they completed the EAX emulation at some point, many effects are still missing.
