I prefer quality rather than quantity.
While GOG's curation process seems obscure and often hit-and-miss, and they obviously have problems getting large publishers to do day 1 releases here, I still think it is preferable to Steams approach.

In comparison, nearly 40% of all games on Steam were released in 2016. That is over 4200 games.

Were 4200 good games worth the asking price released in 2016? No.

Is it easy to find something worth paying for in a catalog so stuffed with absolute crap? No.
Typically (every time) when I'd buy a blockbuster title I'd get bored with it the next day. Now that I've restricted myself to GOG purchases; the games I buy here last me hundreds of hours, despite their much smaller budget. I have no regrets for missing out on the big fish over the past years.

I have hundreds of games I haven't even begun to get into, because I just can't stop playing the others. This catalogue is doing just fine.

TT_TT_TT_TT: And well as others already said i rather have these 1750 games in total here on GOG where for most you could see their appeal or why they would have some appeal to other players than having 4000 games released on steam of which 3000 are utter garbage which will end up in some 1$ bundle along the road

Petrell: Like who has already developed and self published 29 games in span of just half year, 28 of those being currently sold 99% off in [url=https://www.bundlestars.com/en/bundle/dollar-mega-bundle]Dollar Mega Bundle on Bundle Stars? Do we really want to flood GOG with those kind of games? Not that they would be really interested in GOG as over 90% of this kind of developer's earnings come from Steam card sales.
Woah! These are true gems :D. I obviously want them here - ALL OF THEM -.- .
And yes you also managed to mention another thing that i really want here - trading cards ;) - NOT!
They really baffle me as people in some weird giveaway share like all their data and dunno take like 10-15 minutes to fill out some survey or whatever just to get then a totally shitty game which they just run to get the cards which then are worth like 4 times 6 cent -.- - ohh such profit :D - 10 minutes of worktime/leisure time + your data of 20 Cent :D and your steam library flooded with shitty games

So true - on steam i only manage to find the AAA games or some games i read in a review on but no way to just find a hidden gem which i didn't know at all before (which happened several times here just by browsing the catalogue)

O o O

EDIT: And that's apparently not counting DLC, movies and non-game software!
