sgtjackv: Wait, the game's old? the thumbnail made it look like some horrible indie game from 2010.
avatar
toxicTom: Which says a lot about today's games, sadly...

But leaves the question... why are you demanding old games, if you don't even know the classics?
Did you know that I play Duke Nukem 3D and other classic FPSes often?
I mean, Look at my library. Look at my Steam library. (My steam name is Thissucks1111)
I have Doom 1 through Final Doom, Quake 1 and 2, Wolfenstein 3D, Bio Menace, Shadow Warrior Classic, Duke Nukem 3D, (I got it from one of Yatta's codes)I play these classics often.

How should I know?

If you're into classic FPS you might want to take a look at Strife though.

Lord_Kane: GOG hasnt meant good old games for a while, you are a bit late to the party
they formally rebranded to GOG (which means nothing) a bit ago.

toxicTom: We all know it mean Grey or Gray...

or Grumpy Old Gamers...
'Grab our Games' (before they get taken down).

Possibly 'Girls on Gramps'.

No, I didn' t mean for this whole topic to be a troll topic, For that post, I was just saying that I got Strife from Steam, which is actually a little better than GOG.

I am very sorry causing a flame war. I would like for the mods to lock this thread.

Is it that time of the month already? Where's JMich? Should I repost my flowchart?

sgtjackv: Ok, sorry, it's just that........ well......... I'm just triggered by the disturbing lack of classics. That's all.
There's plenty here. Just because they don't necessarily have the exact games you're looking for doesn't mean there ain't classics. You'll find more classics on this website than anywhere else.

I decided to get it on both.

EDIT: ^ Must have hit the wrong reply button, just ignore this Zeo. :)

GOG occasionally still release old games, though it's mostly indie titles these days. You can check this page for (mostly) pre-2000s games: https://www.gog.com/games?release=p2000&sort=bestselling&page=1

Baldur's Gate won't show up there as it is hidden as a "goodie" if you buy the enhanced edition, the same may be true for a few other titles, but still, there you might find something to your liking.

Mods are unlikely to lock this thread unless you send them a private message, as they don't keep a particularly close watch on the forum.

sgtjackv: I just want GOG to have it's original purpose. It's like MTV, or TLC. They don't do what they were made to do anymore.
They do. Especially considering their original purpose was to offer DRM-free games and releasing newer/indie games is one of the things that kept them afloat/still keep them in business today.
Heck, they just released the original Laura Bow games not too long ago, and that's just off the top of my head. Just because the WHOLE WEBSITE isn't abashedly and obviously dedicated to the purpose it used to display doesn't mean they still haven't kept the same principles, they just had to go with the flow of the market a bit to stay in the game and keep delivering what their fans love.

Eh, it's not a flame war and we mean no offense to you, it's just that we get a thread like this complaining that there aren't enough "old" games anymore at least once a month (more frequently TWICE a month. trust me, I've counted). At least we were able to inform ya.

If you want the mods to lock it still, you can PM a staff member in blue.

The real problem is, those kind of threads are so old that reacting to them with smug superiority is getting old, too.
Last year wasn't it Gog released the Gold box & archive of D&D games?

Personally, I'd also prefered if GOG published a bit more old titles. Still like the indies too, of course, but a few more oldies would add some variety.
The solution, then, is for gOg to NOT try to get games when they are new, and instead wait until the games have been on the market for years and everybody and their proctologist has purchased them on Steam or Humble on some huge discount, and ONLY THEN release them once the title is the appropriate amount of old.

The problem with that business plan should be obvious.

Joking aside, gOg have more classics than I have time to play them. I somewhat envy those who have so much game-playing time at their disposal that they have actually run out of classics to play.
