When I open GOG galaxy the usual loading cursor appears then nothing happens for several minutes.
Once it does finally open it runs fine

This only seams to effect the first time i open it (ie i can close it and immediately reopen it)

I have no problem opening other programs or files

How do i fix this

Could you try launching Galaxy with /runWithoutUpdating parameter?
"%PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\GalaxyClient\GalaxyClient.exe" /runWithoutUpdating
Also please, report the issue along with your logs at http://mantis.gog.com
