GlitchyFlame: UPDATE: You can use the CD key you got with the Steam game to activate on GOG. Does the Steam version of Witcher 2 give you a CD key as well?
avatar
Maighstir: For some games, yes, you can use the CD key (from Steam or disc) to redeem it on GOG.
Witcher & Witcher 2: https://www.gog.com/witcher/backup
Others (as listed on the page): https://www.gog.com/reclaim
Awesome! Thanks.
Trine Enchanted Edition game was not added to my account although I now receive. Should I wait?

Trine was last offered on GOG Connect in early June; the offer has expired.

As MightyPinecone said, Trine isn't currently offered on Connect. When a game is on Connect it's there for a limited time only - usually around 6 days - and you have to claim it during that period to get the game on your account.

It might come on offer again one day though. There have been a few repeats in the past.
got my gog and steam account connected no problem. but when trying to claim games from my steam library i get the message there are no eligible games. however i know of at least 1 game that is currently available to claim, but it sez there are no eligible games, which has to be some sort of error. is gog connect broken?

please advise.

jeweledleah: the reason there's urgency at all is that the total window we have is 5 days. less then 4 days now. unless they manage to extend this window?
avatar
zeogold: Ok....but that still doesn't explain why most people around here (not personally attacking you or jsidhu, this is a comment on the general state of the forum currently) can't seem to wait even a full 24 hours. That would literally just be one day gone out of 5. If it were some technical issue other than just a massive amount of traffic, knowing GOG, I'm sure that they'd extend the timeframe.
avatar
jeweledleah: I want it to be on record that I was one of the people affected.
avatar
zeogold: I don't really think that's necessary. The sheer number of people who've mentioned that they've been having this issue should be enough for GOG to realize/assume that EVERYBODY's been effected.
And on top of that, if you really want "proof", a mere post that you were having an issue doesn't prove anything. Saving a screenshot to send to support if it reaches day 4 and still isn't working would be much more effective.

TheTWF: I don't wanna play Waiting: The Game. 2/10 it's innovative -IGN
avatar
zeogold: Once again, I'll ask the question that I've asked so many others:
What's the rush? Is this really so urgent that you can't wait a minimum of 24 hours?
avatar
jsidhu762: I didn't think about that. I apologize.
avatar
zeogold: I apologize if I came off as excessively harsh with you. I normally try to maintain a calm composure, but, like a large majority of the regulars, I'm finding myself beginning to get a little tired of everybody swarming the forum saying the same exact thing.
All your threads are tiring too so go and head butt a truck on the highway.
instead of telling people 'omg are we doing it all over again?' why wont you write recipe and pin it somewhere or link to it every time problem comes up again?

# SOLUTION #

0. GoG Connect is a limited time offer - be sure any offers are sill valid
1. go to GoG:Connect page and link your GoG and Steam account
2. go to your Steam account and set profile to public.
3. go back to GoG:C and sync your Steam with GoG:C [refresh button]
4. wait until refresh is done and you see note that it ended up successfully [depending on traffic it can take a lots of time - hours? days?]
5. when the refresh state is ready... refresh the webpage with GoG Connect and claim your games :)

#

from my experience i can guess that last point is crucial - after syncing accounts nothing changes and you need to refresh whole page to see that eligible games appear on the list

If I can link both my GOG/ Steam Accounts together, why doesn't it give me every Eligible game. I have Empire At War: Gold Edition on Steam, and GOG is selling the same game. But yet it wants me to buy another digital copy for my GOG. GOG need to allow you to link every Steam Via GOG game even if it's no longer on the Connect list Anymore. I think they do it to ensure you don't get a ton of Free Games, which is understandable I guess, but also weird.

What? Who exactly is this "it" that wants you to buy another copy on GOG?

Yes, GOG doesn't want to give you games for free. Very stupid of them indeed. They should be giving you free games left, right and center.

Look, Steam and GOG are two different stores. Sometimes GOG has a promotion that allows you to get a free copy of game that you already own at Steam. Emphasis on "sometimes" and "promotion". They surely have no obligation to give you games just because you own them somewhere else.

You think a business trying to make a prophet is "the most stupid reason"?

Interesting concept. :P

I mean it's entirely stupid, it's just I think If you bought one game on either Steam or GOG and they coincidentally have the Same titles, you should be able to get a free digital copy of that game. Example: When they were doing a Sale or Deal for Saints Row I got a the Free copy for Saints Row 2, and since GOG Detected on my Steam Account that I also owned Saints Row 3 and 4, they gave me the GOG Digital Copies for Free. And if that's not the Case then what is the Point for the GOG Connect System.

To promote the store and attract new customers. Same as any "Get free stuff" deal in any store.

Easy: ask the respective developers for Steam keys of all your GOG games, and GOG keys of all your Steam games.
