tammerwhisk: I think it's more likely that they'd see it and just go, "hmm I guess there's an option for the people bitching," continuing about their day as if nothing had changed. It's work they don't have to do kind of thing.
Sorta like how mod fixes and workarounds more or less never prompt developers to actually patch stuff.
Perhaps, but for me the damage is done. These scripts fix a lot of wrong but it's breaking the site as well, obviously. Some pages don't load, etc.
Even if the site would be perfect with this fix, I will keep my current habits of not visiting GOG mindlessly like I used to do, but at least now when I do visit the site I wont get mad CPU spikes. I'll still be reminded that they stuck a knife in our backs.
And these workarounds usually get a very low engagement rate. I highly doubt even half the people complaining on the site redesign will be using this.
I was 9000% on board with GOG's mission, due to their delivery and image, but this site redesign missed the mark so much and the way it's being handled has me wondering what the hell happened with management over there. I see it as an attack to my integrity. Clearly I was wrong when I thought GOG and I we're on the same wave length. This is an attempt to cater to the mindless robots out there. But hey, it's part of life right? Deception I mean.
When Ars technica redesigned the comments section and messed up bad, about a year ago, the backlash was so strong they reverted the changes within the week or following week and have not touched it since. You know, like a respectable company.
EDIT: Anyway, I'm out. I'm not coming back to complain on this. I vote with my wallet and my purchase influence has gone down tremendously. After making lots of posts on this issue, I'm simply repeating myself and I'm wasting my time. Not worth the effort.
