Yeah, either something is lost in the translation, or...
My favorite parts with that guy are when he makes space for the next one.
When I put this in Google Translate, I get [FATAL ERROR];

Wenn ist das Nunstück git und Slotermeyer? Ja! Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput!
Hagen Rether is a f***ing commie, he's even trivializing the horrible North Korean regime in one of his routines.
He's a prime example of the dumb left that's ruining Germany. Not funny at all.

Hmmm... not my kind of humor I guess. I didn't watch but the first minute, and got bored.

This is what I consider funny German humor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxiZ-Uu5Dco
Not sure if that really makes me burst out laughing, but at least it gets me into a cheerful mood whenever I see it.

But don't worry, you wouldn't get Finnish humor either. You have to be a Finn or mental or both to laugh at something like this (I do):

(sorry no subtitles, but all you need to know is that "Haista vittu" = "Fuck you").

That's sick! There is nothing funny about all the fish they have killed by launching all of those missiles into the ocean. :P

Kim Jong-un must really hate salt water.

Have you ever considered going on vacation in North Korea?
I'm sure many in the GOG community would give you money for that trip :-)

You forget, I lived in Missouri for thirty years.
Hagen Rether is NOT a comedian. He's doing political cabaret. Big difference.
low rated
I would say German politics and their immigrant policies are comedy, but then I'd get booed again.

It shouldn't be mutually exclusive. Political satirists can be funny (as Michel 'Coluche' Colucci, or even Guy Bedos, used to be, in France - or like the Stewart/Bee/Colbert/Noah/Meyers band in the USA, or even pople like David Mitchell in the UK).

This guy here is just stating his opinions. In what seems to be a retirement home for vegans who don't only eat their herbs. Seriously, I get how one would go either "yup" or "nope" at his statements, but these people are just laughing their asses off, and it baffles me. If it begs for a Python reference, the one that comes to my mind is the random stock applause intercuts. The public in that video gave be the same awkward impression.

It's not cabaret, it's soapbox at its blandest.

Telika: It's not cabaret,

Well, what can I say. I judge on that video. If it's representative, then germany has a very weird conception of cabaret - I either wouldn't want to see the competition, or wouldn't want to see the jury (or was it in that video too).

A Frank Lepage, a Font or Val of the 80s, heck even a Lakis Lazopoulos, would be crowned king and emperor, by these standards.
