Ghorpm: Civilization IV: Colonization
assigned by Bass47

As a huge fan of the original Colonization I was very suspicious about this title. Newer graphics means nothing to me and Colonization was great anyway so who needs a remake? But even so I wasn't prepared for such a disappointment. It's not a bad game per se, there are many interesting improvements (better mechanics of Founding Fathers, experience and promotions for units etc.) and the game is still challenging as it should be but... the whole atmosphere is lost. I think it should have been named "Preparation for War of Independence" and not "Colonization". That's right, I didn't feel that my task is to colonize a New World at all. For example: somewhere midgame I found a perfect spot for rum production and none of my colonies could make it thus far. But I didn't set up a colony there because it would be impossible to win the game if I did so. Why? Because if I had waited a bit longer with declaration of independence king's army would grow so huge that I wouldn't have enough time (please note - time not armies) to defeat it. After a few games you realize that the game is very restrictive and doesn't let you play it your way. There are very narrow and sometimes counter-intuitive time windows in which you have to accomplish some goals. If you miss any of them you'll probably run out of time. I do realize that in 4X games you usually need to play it several times before understanding its mechanics well enough but in this game they made it purely ridiculous. You can't even predict that some action will lead to your ultimate failure.

So if you want my advise forget this game and play the original instead. That's something I'm going to do right now just to remove a bad taste in my mouth that Civilization IV: Colonization left.

Your review made me buy the game. :)
The original is a great game, I can wholeheartedly recommend it!
Progress update:

Return on Castle Wolfenstein
Progress is slow. I'm a very bad FPS player and so even on easy difficulty things get quite hard for me when some of the tougher enemies show up (e.g. Fire Zombies). Still like the level design and also the different weapons. I also like that the AI isn't completely dumb (even if that would make the game a lot easier for me). Right now I'm at level 4 of mission 2 and I hope tat things don't get much harder.

Age of Wonders
This game is slowly becoming one of my all-time favourites. I love everything about it.

I've just finished mission 5 which included an interesting two-front-war against the humans and the dwarves (none of them wanted to accept my offer for peace). In the end the humans did something very stupid and so I was able to win.
The highlight of the mission was a battle between the dwarves and my alliance of lizardmen and halflings. They fought very hard for the control of a small settlement that was unimportant when it came to resources or troops, but had a very important strategic position. No side was able to gain control for more than two or three turns for a very long time, but in the end my heroes succored and decided the battle.

I have to say that the game is very addictive. Several times I just wanted to play one more turn and ended up playing for some more hours.

The game is my all-time favorite so I'm glad you like it! There are so many ways to upgrade your heroes and choose magic spheres... And I love it how the game progress relatively slowly: as you said, you capture one town the lose it, retake it again and so on... but in the end you slowly push your borders further and further...

I find it very interesting how you evaluate this game! I think I played it too inpatient and rushed my heroes to power and victory ;-)
Progress update on The Witcher 2: Assasins of Kings

This game is great. Currently I'm in the first city and I try to make as many side quests as I can before I go to the main quest. I enjoy every bit of this game and I will take my time to beat it.

My personal favorite was a main hero built as a fighter with no magic whatsoever. At the beginning it was difficult to keep him alive but after a while he was a death incarnate ;)

I formed my heroes to some sort of fighter/mage hybrid which made them simply powerful. As I wrote before, they could wipe out entire armies just on their own. That was especially useful for the last mission of the campaign ;-)

Meanwhile...
Progress update on Shovel Knight
Assigned by yoshino

I managed to beat the game in about 12 hours ;-) At least as the Shovel Knight - now I am able to play through it again as the Plague Knight, which I will definitely do!
The game so far was quite enjoyable, but also had some (at least for me) extremely difficult moments in certain jumping sequences which seemingly required absolute precision. Sometimes this was just frustrating, especially the last level in which you had to beat every single boss again, one after the other, in a single run.

Cheers!

Once or twice I played the game without using heroes at all. I just kept them somewhere safe and did all the fighting with regular armies. It was really hard but satisfing as well
Progress update on X3 Terran Conflict
Assigned by Dessimu.

The battle mission required breaking through one of the enemy Xenon's sectors to north.
I entered the Xenon's sector, but was immediately killed in 10 seconds. I tried many times but no one survived.
I decided to upgrade my M3 ship to M6 ship for 9 millions credits. I had 10 millions.so that was expensive shopping.
After brought one and equipped it with 3 of 200MJ shields I entered the Xenon sector and was killed in 10 seconds. lol.
The next time, I escaped Xenon fleet, and entered north sectors. Ship's shield was almost zero.Unfortunately one of my guard ships sank.
Now I am proceeding the battle missions while my auto trade ships earn money for me.

My credit: 3 millions.
My battle ships M6(main) and M3
My trade ships : 4
My factory : 1 (wheat farm)

Things get a lot harder in the final few missions. Eventually cheated so that enemies couldn't see me anymore. :P
I finished the main mission in X3 Terran Conflict .
Last parts of the missions was rather disappointed. so early to end.
I think this game's main missions is kind of the tutorial and sandbox game is actually main.
This game was a lot of fun, but I feel a bit bored, so I want to playing another game now.
Please choice one for me.thanks!

Wizardry 7.

lol. OK, I'll play my first game in colonization.
Before that, I'll read the manual though.
Progress update on Age of Wonders and Return to Castle Wolfenstein:

Age of Wonders
I've completed another mission and that one was quite easy until the end. At that point I had to break my allience with the humans and a lot of cities and troops turned again me. My heroes were occupied in another part of the country and so the rampaging independant armies (which were quite strong, because they were from fully upgraded human cities) gave the rest of my cities a hard time. But in the end it was just a matter of time before I defeated them.

The next mission started interesting. I wiped the dwarves from the map after just a few turns, but faced a very strong human faction. I made good progress, but at one point my heroes became a little too brave and were attacked by a huge army lead by the human king. Without a realistic chance to survive the battle, I turned all my power against the king and was able to defeat him. That leaves me with a lot of independent troops again. Guess I'll have to stop them onen by one.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein
I've completed the second mission. Have to say that I like the human enemies much better than the supernatural ones. The first boss fight was fun though (even if it was a little easy).

The next mission seems to be interesting. I'm not allowed to trigger any alarms, so I guess I have to use a stealth tactic to succeed.
Progress update on Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows
Assigned by yoshino

I just managed to beat the game! It took me about 10 hours to do so.
Although the stages, bosses and so on were largely the same it actually felt like a different game! As the Plague Knight, you are able to throw bombs at your enemies, double-jump and burst-jump through the air to move very quickly and deal lots of damage. The jumping height was also a little bit lower than Shovel Knight's and enemy damage hit your character harder. Some specific points in the game were very hard for me and quite frustrating but my overall impression is that this game is challenging but always fair (enough).
And in the end, I just had really, really much fun playing through this title - always a good sign! ;-)

But now I would like to have a new assignment, gentlemen! I am open for everything, please choose!
