I am looking for a local gaming community, like how gamers would get together in the late 90's and do an Ethernet party. With high-speed internet I know those things are probably a thing of the past, but maybe someone out there knows of a website or something that will hook you up with people in your area?

Looking forward to some good advice! :D

Thank you

Well, I'm not sure a volatile, disgruntled community of grognards who probably never played multiplayer is really the place to look.

Now, maybe the YOSPOS or gaming sections of the SomethingAwful forums, but they have serious rules and a serious registration fee too.
Somehow reminds me of HeroGames where half the forum was a LFG and you specify city/state or whatnot, and you might find your potential group.

Though with most games dropping couch-coop or IPX/LAN games that really limits things. I do wish every multiplayer game supported local LAN, so you don't need to coordinate or anything, just finds the group on the local LAN and you get going, much like Starcraft and DOOM were back in the day.
play by mail :)

still quite common in certain area's, and also a thing of the past which made it nicely into the modern day.

Larger social media groupings such as Facebook or Discord might be a place to start.
Also i happen to know of one gathering out there though still online but this also might be a good place to start asking questions
