About six years ago I made a thread on GOG about games to play when you're tired. I got a lot of good responses for specific games or type of games that people play when they're very tired but still want to game and enough time has passed to get some new responses. I do from time to time struggle with falling asleep and hence I will be rather tired the next day and this can go on for a few days. I don't want to sleep during the day since that only makes it worse. So what I would like to hear from you is what specific games or type /genres of games do you play when you're really tired but still want to game?

TLDR: what games do you play when you're really sleepy but still want to play a game?

Rummy on my tablet. Easiest to play in bed, and if I fall asleep - the tablet shuts off after a few minutes of inactivity.

That's a good question. I played Mafia 2, I was really tired, but couldn't save. You have to play till you get to a saving point. It was really annoying, but the story was good, so I played like 4 h while beeing very tired.

You could also try a horror survival game. I played outlast or Darkwood. Falling asleep was successfully prevented with both.

Ouh I missunderstood you. If you want to fall asleep..hmm...probably something with good soft music. Hollow knight has good music.

Deluxe Ski Jump 2.1 is good when you're tired.
Online texas hold'em using play money is a really relaxing and enjoyable game. Never use real money! Always play money.

Also another easy way of gaming when tired is to watch other people playing online through a streaming service. I enjoy that.

I don't. I go to sleep and play games when I'm not tired anymore.
Here are a couple that I would recommend:

Dragon Warrior, NES version. The idea is that you can just mindlessly wander around in circles, killing the enemies you encounter, and slowly build up XP and GP. Note that I only recommend the NES version here; the remakes drastically increased the XP and GP you get from killing enemies, making the game, and in particular the part where you just mindlessly wander around killing eemies, much shorter.

Bard's Tale 1: Again, you can just find a spot where a large group of enemies like to hide out and just keep killing them over and over. (Note that, if you choose to play the remaster, you will want to turn the Legacy Mode option that increases XP requirements to what they were initially; in addition to slowing down leveling, it is required to get those repeatable high XP encounters, as well as that one famous berserker encounter, to respawn.)
18x Visual Novels.
No, I am not kidding.

I am more likely to play games at the end of the day while struggling to keep my eyes open, so I need to try Darkwood. It's in my backlog as well!
I don't know if this counts because it's only a small part of a game.

I'm playing Terraria and prepping for hard mode by digging a shit load of Hellevators. It's a nice little activity when I'm tired and not up for anything challenging.

West of Loathing - The silliest game of all. No need for brain to function at all whatsoever.

Saints Row IV - Maybe even more silly then "West of Loathing". Also no need for brain to function at all.
I play Onirim on my phone. It'swonderfully hypnotic and I fall asleep while playing it. If I sit up at the computer to play something I will never fall asleep

For me the key element is being easy. Something that requires almost no thought, and doesn't involve combat, stress, loud noises, flashing lights or other anti-sleepy things. I find that PNC games work for that.

Some that I would suggest are...

Triple Town : A very nice match 3 game. The game has a flaw concerning its global progression (it requires a lot of games to upgrade your main island), but it doesn't really matter in the end (you play it for the match 3 games) and it's very enjoyable, can be played "at you own pace" game, and is very addictive.

Craft the World could interest you too : it's a kind of mix between Terraria and Dwarf Fortress (with a bit of tower defense ?). But on the light side. You tell your dwarfs where to dig/build things, and you manage globally. Here, there are two flaws : games can be long to finish (get ready for easily 10hours to finish a level)(you can speed up time but it's still a slow paced game), and Dwarf AI can be an issue at times (there are some workarounds and nothing fatal. Only... not a very good AI ^^"). But I spend so many hours on this game and come back regularly to it when I want to relax. The perfect game for long Sunday afternoon, and I highly enjoy it ;)

Alien Shooter is nice if you want dumb fun shooting hordes of bad aliens :)
Can totally be played in short burst or longer sessions. Perfect when you're tired and only want to focus on "ratatata" or "pew pew pew".

Crimsonland is a very nice and relaxing top down shooter for me too. 10tons make really awesome games :)

Kingdom Rush serie : awesome tower defenses.

Drox Operative (and all Soldak Entertainment games) : proceduraly generated, "dynamically living", hack & slash. If you don't mind the graphics, it's very nice if you want a good hack & slash :) (but not everyone likes them though, they are pretty special)

Braveland : I like this serie (I still have to play the 3rd one though). It's a very, VERY light Heroes of Might and Magic, but it's nice when you want a light (and easy) HoMM kind of game. Not the best games but still truly enjoyable to play.

Creeper World : unfortunately not on GOG, I still recommend highly this series of games. They are incredibly good tower defense with "offensive". First one is easier to get into, third one is the most refined, second has very interesting ideas. I love all 3, each for different reasons, and finished them all several times. You can try the demos on developer website !

Hope some will please you ! And more importantly, that your sleeping issues will finally improve.

May I ask, what were some of the good games you were suggested ?

Another idea, if you are tired and don't want to think, is Progress Quest, which is a 0-player game in which you create a character and then the game plays itself.
