So with this whole remake/reboot culture that's been going around like a pox at a convention, I was thinking about this, and decided to put a spin on it! I'll provide an example or two for the Good/bad contrast.

Super Mario Sunshine
Why doesn't it need a Remake?
Because in order to remake this game, you'd have to take Super Mario Sunshine out of Super Mario Sunshine. To fix the issues that plague this game, you'd have to remove all the poorly designed levels (most of them), get rid of Blue Coins, (even though they count for a large goal %), throw out the clunky camera, replace those worthless tropical Yoshi with actual ones, and a slew of other issues.

In Summary: It would take too much time and effort to bring this up to snuff.

Deus EX:
Wht doesn't it need a remake?
Because it is a damn fine game. It was sculpted carefully from the very start. Now a remaster, to bring the graphics up to a nice level, that would be fine, if you ask me.

There. That's two examples, so here's some rules to keep this thread in control.

1. Obviously, can't remake a game that's still selling. Exception: Nintendo games for the most part, because as far as I can tell, they're still selling Super Mario 64 DS.

2. Can't remake a remake. That's just redundant. I know they've actually done that before, but for the purpose of this thread, let's keep it sane.
Never got why Bioshock needed a remaster.
Britney's Dance Beat

You can't improve perfection. :D
HoMM 3 didnt deserve that remake
I'd welcome a remake of Escape from Monkey Island, preferably one that makes it hand drawn 2D, but even something like Tales from Monkey Island would be a vast improvement. Basicaly, enything that helps with the horrendous controls and terrible early 3D graphics. To this day it's the only one in the series I haven't finished.

Strongly disagree about Deus Ex. Since day one that game was horrible to look at, featured ugly voice overs and had some really bad music. Also, the fact that the character has no weight at all behind his movement is just bloody annoying. Perfect game my ass!

GOG seriously needs this game.

Fairfox: We rented a Super NES title calllled... erm... *looks*...
Equinox! Holy sheeple, pu lled taht one out. It was quite obscure? I don't kno, it seemed liek one of those lesser-known tit les. Any6hoohar I has Lumo on GOGie an' it reminds me of it (or vice-versa). Deffo could work if remade?
Ah, yes. Equinox. The sequel to Solstice on the NES. It could use a lot of quality of life improvements.

No weight behind his movement? He's a nano-augmented agent whose primary method though missions is stealth. He's not some lumbering beast like Montana from Battleborn.

As for the music, that's simply a matter of opinion. It's a game set in a dystopia in the somewhat distant future. To that end, it sounds on point for the technology of the time.

The bad voice acting so that it may be called, is meant so the player can project themselves into the role; if you'll recall the name entry.

bela555: HoMM 3 didnt deserve that remake
Go on, explain why.

This is a stupid idea. Fact of the matter is that technology and technique shall march forward, and the games of yore suffer when compared to their modern relatives. Renovating those old games is important for keeping them as they were intended: A source of fun.

Battling awful controls, poorly worded dialogue, misconceived balance, technical ghouls, and whatever else that plagues games is frustrating. Old games should be understood for why they are great, but they shouldn't be treated as sacred cows.
A remaster of Deus Ex would give me a good excuse to play it again.
Love a complete remake of:
Betrayal at Krondor and Planet's Edge.
Baldur's Gate
Baldur's Gate II
Icewind Dale
Icewind Dale II
Planescape: Torment
