I'm looking to make a comprehensive list of Alien Breed-like games on GOG (and in general).

To avoid confusion, I'm talking about the old 16-bit era Alien Breed, top-down shooter.

Which are your favourites?

The Shadowgrounds games are like that, and they are good.
the Shooter games - Alien Shooter 1 and 2, and Zombie Shooter 1 and 2.

there are other Shooter games not on gOg.

I also like Splatter - Zombiecalypse Now

amok: I also like Splatter - Zombiecalypse Now
I'm really liking the Mario Bava style coloured lighting on that
The Chaos Engine

I would suggest playing the Amiga version however (same for Alien Breed). I don't see the version here is as bad as some people make it, but I prefer the Amiga AGA version. Best would probably be a CD32 port if you prefer gamepads to joysticks. Also the Evercade has a good version, might even be very close to the one here.

Xeno Crisis

On the Amiga, also play Leaving Teramis.

If you like that gameplay style, also try the Desert Strike / Jungle Strike / Nuclear Strike series. Of course a helicopter is controlled differently than a human, but I think they give a similar feeling.

Couple more suggestions:
Expendable. Currently on sale for 70 cents. Insanely fun in coop if you have someone to play with.
God's Trigger. Currently 75% off.

Definitely can recommend Shadowgrounds. The first one is great and probably the closest you'll get to the actual Alien Breed. The 2nd one not as good, but still decent. Both are below a buck in the current sale.

As for Alien Shooter 2, the Reloaded version is worse compared to the original, full featured Alien Shooter 2: Vengeance. Most notably, Reloaded has less music and simplified RPG elements. If you can get your hands on the non-Reloaded one, definitely do so. If you want to paint the levels red with hundreds upon hundreds of enemies, the Shooters (Alien or Zombie), got you covered.

Just been playing this for the last 2 hours :D

It's good, quite entertaining. I think the shotgun is bugged, though, after reload I can't shoot.
I have to swap weapons to unblock the shotty.

Thanks for the recommendation
