Hello, I was going to start this as a question but I decided to turn it into a thread for others to make use of as well, I scanned down through the other threads in general discussion and I do not recall seeing a thread like this. The purpose is to have a thread where people can put requests for GOG to look into acquiring games that may have been forgotten or that they have not acquired as of yet.

My first suggestion: Swarm Assault 1999

Swarm assault is a one of a kind RTS game. There is only one game like it that I am aware of, and I have to believe the developers played Swarm Assault when they were kids, but, they went down a different path. (Empires of the Undergrowth) The game precedent is pretty simple: A campaign of domination with successively harder missions, there being 100 missions in total. When I was a child, my disc version had some sort of glitch that reset my progress from level 80 back to 26 I think, and I never got to finish the game. But, it also had skirmish mode were you could setup a random seed to fight on.

What is the game exactly? You control armies of bugs. Bugs with bazookas, machine guns, lasers, sniper rifles, missiles, grenades, spears, ninja stars, cannons, sonic weaponry.....it gets pretty intense. Think WORMs but on a world-war level. There are no population limits and no resources in the conventional sense, mostly time, health, and bug-power. The goal is to conquer each Colony structure on the map, changing it to your color.

Each species' Colony HQ has different defense systems, some debatably better then others. Each species of bugs has their own Colony HQ and three different soldiers. Each kind of unit has a tier, 1, 2 or 3 and takes a different amount of time to spawn by the HQ. HQ's only regenerate HP when not producing units. Your resources are your Colony HP, production time, and your bug units themselves.

There are several bug factions, each with pros and cons just like the Colonies, but some are debatably stronger. Ants, beetles, scorpions, spiders and wasps. I put wasps as the strongest because they fly, which is unique and vital for certain maps. You are not limited to one species. You may start with one Colony, but can acquire other colonies based on the map and what HQ's are present.

The other empires are not the only threat. The world you live in is not safe, each of the four map types has unique environmental threats that could actually kill you as well. Each terrain has a flyer that will 'randomly' coughcough fly over the map in a straight line dropping ordinances, then disappear off of the map until another one spawns. But, these flyers could also ruin your enemies day as well, or weaken a neutral Colony HQ for the taking. They can be shot down with enough firepower. Each terrain also has a unique dangerous flora, each one requiring a tactic to kill effectively. The final threat is neutral black-ants that will come out of the ground randomly and can be quite annoying....try not to let their numbers grow, because they can outnumber the militaries of the empires eventually.

There are 'free' and 'remade' versions out there, they are either....not as functional, or, from shady sources for the most part.

I'd love to see this game make a come-back, and especially add in map editor, multi-player (functional, the default had it I'm pretty sure) better map design seeds for skirmish, maybe even more terrain types, units or species.
