moho_00: DmC: Devil May Cry - I tried this one on PC before, but found the controls to be a little overwhelming. I picked up the Definitive Edition on PS4 and absolutely loved it! I'm amazed at how many people did not like this game.
Played the game on PC, and I thought it was alright for the most part. Kind of bizarre how the Definitive Edition version of the game (kind of interested in trying it after looking at some of the major changes they've made) is still console exclusive.

Medal of Honor Allied Assault: Breakthrough

Another add-on pack for MoHAA (included with the GOG version), adds three more missions. Same fun as the rest of the game, although I did find these missions to be much harder overall than the Spearhead expansion.

GR00T: I really liked it as well, and spent more than 100 hours on it. Did yours include the DLC as well? I thought they did a great job on them. Shame there's never going to be a sequel.
Nope, no DLC. One of these days I may have to get some as I do love the game and kind of wish there was more.
I have only completed a few games this year. So far behind. So many games, so little time. :)
After some time without finishing anything I got 2 games done today and 3 this week total.

Earlier this week I decided to not play Crimsonland anymore.
I went through Normal and Hardcore modes and did all survivals but I am not going to bother with Grim difficulty. It's more of the same, only harder and I don't like the game enough to keep playing it.
I don't find the game that great. Main problem is that is too much dependant on random weapon drop. In many missions if the player doesn't get the appropriate weapon, they can as well restart it right away. Power-up drops are also too random and sometime it is easy to just obliterate the enemies while other time I stoo no chance whatsoever only because scarce and bad drops.
Neither I enjoyed this aspects or consider them good design.

Also I played The Tower. It is game made by fellow gogger zeogold. It is browser-based text adventure. It is comical game but it was not my kind of humour. It is quite short and extremely short if one knows exactly what to do, but there are also 11 hidden achievements and to get them all, one has to be thorough and explore all parts of game and it eventually took me more than 2 hours to explore it whole.
It is free game so everyone can try it.

Last but not least I completed Wolfenstein: The Old Blood today. It is mostly more of the same as The New Order and that's good thing as New Order was very good. There is not much to say. The game has good weapons, good presentation, entertaining gameplay and the gunplay feels tight.
There are perks to unlock, letters and gold to find, sad fate for many allied NPC and there are burning zombie nazis raining from the sky.
I did everything except most challenges as they are not my thing in most games (except Arkham City) and I can only recommend this game.

Full list.

I just completed the main quest in Witcher 3. I really loved this game and it is probably my favorite open world game.
Finished Far Cry 2 Fortunate Edition

"Hey lets make a game set in africa!"
"Will there be lions and other dangerous safari animals?"
"No, we have a better idea... Assault trucks... The real predators of the savannah."
When you hear loud REEEEEEEEE behind you - abandon all hope.

3/4 of the game is about driving. If you don't have good music for driving or Spotify account then you better stay away
from the game. It was before fast travel become popular.

Fortunate Edition have additional guns and they're useless except x-bow with explosive bolts, p.good for Weapon Shops
convoy missions before you get RPG-7.
I don't see why you need rockets in this game, there is not a single tank here (or any armored vehicle for that matter),
and rockets need distance to activate.

You buy guns and upgrades + manuals for diamonds (only useful currency these days).
You get them from missions (primary and assassinations) or collect scattered from the map, one by one from 229 overall.
I can tell you that primary+assassinations is enough if you stick to few guns. Unless you want to catch'em all.

Sniper rifle in this game is a must. M-79 occupy secondary (pistols&smg) slot, highly recommended.

Buddy missions are pointless by two reasons. First - you get no reward in diamonds, only increase reputation and reputationgive better guns to your enemies, including RPG-7 and mortars. Nothxbye.
Second - every single one of them will betray you at the end of the game when you grab the suitcase
with diamonds (I tell you that so you don't need to play it) and they're so kindly they grouped
together so single grenade from M-79 remove them from digital existence.

Malaria thing is totally doable. It's totally scripted. It remind me soul eater feature from MotB, people were mad at it
but once you play it - you will feel like a fool for panicking over such nuance..

Graphic is fantastic. Clean, detailed and it's strange when you set all options to highest and it doesn't burn your
eyes with massive HDR and bloom... highly immersive thanks to lack of interface and pop-ups, like in FC3 and beyond.
Music remind me Arcanum for some reason.

Played with Dylan's Mod. That mean less bullets to take down enemies (and you).
Titan Quest! I liked it a lot, despite its flaws! Now time to beat Grim Dawn inside out, which by the way seems and feels 1000x times better than its predecessor!

Streets of Rage Remake v5.1! I finally managed to beat the extra game modes with my own skill and no editors, or ArtMoney cheating! Max Thunder FTW! I also finished a plethora of mods on it, as well!
Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack (thanks to DD for this one.)
A physics puzzle-platformer (yeah, another one ;-p) It was quite fun. The basic idea of the game is that you are a mutated blob who has escaped from a lab, and you eat smaller objects to grow larger. Pretty simple controls - just move and jump (and you can "slam" down), but after the first few levels, you gain a magnetic field that attracts or repels you from certain metal objects. Additionally, some levels will have a "rocket mode", where the blob is controlled by a rocket booster.
I thought the difficulty was just about right. Not too hard, and not too easy. I did get stuck a few times for about 5 minutes, but I think I wouldn't have if I had been using a controller (I used a mouse and keyboard, which is not recommended, according to the game's options menu.) A downside is that you can't reconfigure the controls, but I thought the defaults worked pretty well anyway.
The style is really fun. It feels like a cheap sci-fi movie from the 50's, which is lovely. Cool art style, and excellent music (though it gets a bit repetitive at times.) Everything has a very lighthearted tone, with little bits of humor spread throughout the game, including some little references to other indie games in the backgrounds.
I finished the game in 3 hours and 42 minutes, at a casual pace, and without trying to collect everything. I did get a little bored in the middle. There are 6 zones, each with 3-5 levels (24 levels total, plus a couple of "mini" bonus levels.) Zones 4 and 5 started feeling a bit repetitive to me, but luckily zone 6 got more interesting, and ended on a great note.
Overall, it was quite a good platformer, with a funny tone. I'd recommend it :-)

My full list.

Limbo.

One of the key games that started the indie game revolution of recent years. It's a platformer with unforgettable art direction and atmosphere, beautiful score and challenging, varied gameplay. It's been 6 years and it hasn't aged a day. A must-play.

Just beat Darksiders. I thought I would like it more but it was mediocre with its ups and downs.
Assassins Creed Brotherhood

Skipped over this one and played Chronicles and 3 etc. Can't say I missed much. The story here is one big meh and only takes place in a decently sized Rome. Half of the problems in the games plot would have been to have Ezio actually fucking assassinate members of the Borgia family when he had the chance. Letting them live for no good reason. This could be my most hated trope in all of fiction.

Some of the combat is pretty good save for the glitchiness.

Freerunning after a target doing the same will highlight just how imprecise the system really is. Its fine if you are going dead on but if the next section of a jump is situated diagonally then you have at least 33% chance of completely missing your mark.

Going back to AC I forgot just how choppy the momentum is. Go then stop for the character to finish his animation then go again and repeat. This makes traversal a very jerky affair.I probably forgot this aspect of the series because the latter games take a heavier focus on combat and sailing (can't speak about Unity since I lack a PS4).
J.U.L.I.A.: Among The Stars

Got it during the Insomnia sale and completed it even before it gets released on GOG. In fact, I installed it and fired it up just to check if it worked, but after playing it for a couple of minutes I got so hooked on it that I couldn't help but keep playing it.

It's a first-person-perspective adventure game without freedom of movement, much like the Myst series or any current day HOPA (Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure). But, contrary to the latter, without any of the hidden object nonsense and with all its focus put on the puzzle elements. It begins almost like a murder mystery story, in which you have to uncover the untimely end of the rest of the ship's crew while on a mission on the surface of a planet. That's the part that really grasped me. Unfortunately, as the game progresses the story's scope slowly broadens and shifts towards the history of the only remaining sapient species in that remote solar system, including some not-so-subtle religious parallelisms. The more the focus deviated from its initial premises, the more uninterested in the story I became. Nonetheless, I readily completed the game and never thought about quitting, it's only that I was left with the feeling of a good opportunity lost.

Apart from that, the art style is excellent: contrasting the bleak indoor environments of the human bases with the beautiful and varied natural landscapes of the different planets in the system. The 3D animated cutscenes also show a top-notch attention to detail, pity that they were rendered at only 720p (for technical reasons and time constraints) and so they appear somewhat "blocky" on a Full-HD display or above. Voice acting is also great, though some people may be annoyed by the non-human characters' inflections and intonations.

My list of finished games in 2016

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

I have just finished Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance once more this year. The first time, I played the game with a keyboard and mouse, but now I have used a controller, and it felt a lot better, easy to control.
There is a lot of replay value here, higher difficulties provide a smarter AI, which makes the battles still very enjoyable for a replay.
Also, there is a large amount of in-game extra content: codec conversations, VR missions, DLC and the customization of the character.
The DLC part consists of Jetstream DLC which takes about 1-2h to finish and Blade Wolf DLC which takes about 1h to finish. The DLC tells the story of Sam and Blade Wolf just before the main game.

Complete list of games finished in 2016.

I just ran through Air Force Delta on the Dreamcast. My brother and I were playing Soul Calibur and I popped the game in just to play my Dreamcast more. I liked it, it was just a little longer than a Star Fox game and was pretty fun as a general rule. Not quite as polished or nice (in regard to production values) as an Ace Combat game but definitely worth the time of anyone who likes an arcade-y game like that. It's length is definitely along the lines of an arcade game more than Ace Combat and as another point of comparison there is no voice acting in it. If one owns a Dreamcast and sees this game they should pick it up.
