zeogold: It used to hold gifts as well that you accepted but didn't want to download, but not anymore.

essex20: What do you mean by that?

"Steam Gifting will now be a system of direct exchange from gift buyer to gift receiver, and we will be retiring the Gift to E-mail and Gift to Inventory options."
no ^^
The reason I originally joined GOG was because (at the time) it wasn't riddled with the vendor lock-in practices that caused me to avoid Steam. I don't understand the wish for the race to the bottom. If someone desires GOG to be more like Steam then why aren't they using Steam in the first place?...

pds41: Yes - reserve the bottom third of the screen for the inventory and verb panel!
It's more like an 8th, at most.

ZFR: .... why would you care about Galaxy features since you don't use it anyway .......

Ebany: I'd imagine it's the same reason people who don't have children care about child slavery - they don't like watching people corrupt something which was once pure.
No, this analogy is completely flawed. Even assuming a gaming client is as evil as child slavery then the correct analogy would here would be someone asking whether slave children should have their hats changed from orange to pink and a staunch opposer of child slavery jump in and claim that NO, THEY SHOULD REMAIN ORANGE.

You either like child slavery and in that case I can understand that you don't want to corrupt the pure child slavery by introducing pink hats, or you want to abolish child slavery in which case I want to abolish it regardless of what hat colour they're made to wear.

I'm not questioning him being against Galaxy. He doesn't use Galaxy and wants it abolished completely? Sure; I can understand someone wanting that.
What I'm questioning is him is being against an internal cosmetic change within Galaxy, seeing how he doesn't want to use it anyway; that's like being a dog in a manger.

(And personally I find comparing child slavery to a gaming client slightly disturbing, but an analogy is an analogy; you started it).

Johnathanamz: I don't want to see greedy capitalism appear on gog.com.

I'm fine with GWENT: The Witcher card video game being on gog.com, I think GWENT: The Witcher card video game will be a one off thing for gog.com, I think GWENT: The Witcher card video game will be the only Free to Play (F2P) video game on gog.com ever.

I'm sick and tired of you and other people who support this greedy business model. It's quite frightening because in the future if we are so stupid and keep accepting this ALL full priced retail video games will have microtransactions and even Pay to Win (P2W) microtransactions like Activision does in the Call of Duty video games.

This needs to stop now and thank god my Do not ever allow microtransactions and full priced video games with in app purchases and stuff like that is getting votes.

Thank god the gog.com version of Gremlins, Inc sold on gog.com doesn't have any microtransactions.
Yeah, I still don't see the relationship between microtransactions, F2P, P2W and whether Galaxy has inventory or not.

Microtransactions and client inventory are completely different things. So I don't see why you came and made a rant about microtransactions in a thread where OP asked about Galaxy inventory.

You're questioning why he/she would care to offer an opinion about something in which they have little (or no) involvement.

The why is simple: this is a forum where everyone is entitled to an opinion without personal justification. It's an opinion, not a medical paper. Just feels like a cheap shot, like attacking someone for their speeling or sentence structure.

Of course this is a forum, not a medical paper, these are all opinions and anyone can post here anything without being obliged to justify their opinion to anyone. I'm not asking Jonathanamz to write a thesis on this and neither am I. And my opinion is that arguing about a cosmetic change in something you don't use is just plain petty.

(Note that I'd understand this if this was a case of whether Galaxy should exist or not; some people feel strongly about clients even if they don't use them. But this assumes that Galaxy does exists and is about a simple cosmetic change).

I'm going to give Jonathanamz the benefit of the doubt though and assume that he simply didn't understand what the OP was asking, and thought that this was about something that would involve microtransaction in games. That would make his posts make sense, and I can understand someone being against microtransactions out of principle. I hate them myself. But the "inventory" that the OP was asking about doesn't involve them.
