It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

im using standard galaxy client not the BETA 2.0 client and i was wondering is GOG going to basically force everyone to upgrade to it or is it users choice to use the new one or stay on the old one.
as i prefer the old one as i dnt use any of the services you can connect but i ahve a feeling if i click connect on those other sevices it will take me to a web browser which i do not want, why does every launcher need to connect to other t hings its not convieniant at all its just a pointless feature cos you still need the launcher from the company say origin to play apex legends for example .

Of course it will be the only version down the track. You think GOG is going to maintain TWO different versions of their client software?

As for the "but i ahve a feeling if i click connect on those other sevices it will take me to a web browser which i do not want" ... huh? You've lost me.
It hardly matters, if you don't want to connect to Steam, Epic etc then simply don't use or use offline Installers.

Offline Installers are important imo. Galaxy to Galaxy 2.0 not so much as it's still Galaxy.

I get your point but isn't galaxy launcher based on Chromium?
Why would you click connect to the other services if you don't want to use them? If you do, why would it take you to a 'web browser'? It opens the client so you can sign in.

No
but you need different clients if you want to install and play games from other stores

no, cant do this

then you should not use Galaxy, as it is based on the Chronium browser.

Then ... don't connect to steam or other clients? It's not like it's mandatory to do so. As far as I know you can still use Galaxy 2.0 as a GOG-only client, it's just that it's so bare-bones at the moment it's geared towards the new features of interlinking other game collections. When it matures it should have all the features it has now, and all the features the old client had as well.

But, you've got to know that pretty much any client which allows access to its web store / forums / website uses the Chromium Embedded Framework behind the scenes (including Blizzard and GOG). Origin I read uses Qt WebEngine (with Chromium code), If getting your account hijacked by a link in a forum is a concern ... don't use the client to access the forums maybe? Use your preferred browser instead?
Galaxy will never be mandatory unless GOG decides to stop being GOG and turn their back on their culture of allowing their customers the freedom to download and play their games without a client... Something that would make no sense because that is one thing that gives GOG a massive edge over Steam etc... All you have to do is download the offline installers and that's it...

1. I don't think it would force you to use a web browser(as in looking at web sites via the client).

2. Web browsers are the least of our worries in today's world.....and they are pretty safe if you get a decent one and set it to be as secure as possible.
i downgraded to old galaxy

new is horri-bad

awful library sortin' an' just clunky af

i dont know what galaxy this is, but im not visitin' it again any time soon
