GalCiv 2 is currently free on Humble.

It's a Steam key only giveaway but the game can be downloaded with the Steam command line downloader SteamCMD and runs without the Steam client.

After checked the humble site I remembered that I have already bought the game on GOG.lol.

I don't know if it comes with a CD key after Steam redemption but if so, you MIGHT be able to redeem it from Stardock for a DRM-free download from them.

I just redeemed the Humble key, and on my steam page for the game I see a CD key thing.
Don't know if this key is redeemable at Stardock's website though. Someone else will have to test that, as I honestly don't care enough to try and run it without steam.

Sigh. I redeemed it on the rare case that a future GOG Connect offers it. Hopefully it will show up sooner or later. That's what I'm going to do going forwards. If it has a version on GOG, there is a chance that Connect would pick it up, no?

I did. They're available only during the subscription time.

Also, if you're willing to subscribe, do so at the beginning of the next Monthly. Don't do it at the near end: I got that and only got about two days to download the stuff from there.

Not sure if you've noticed, but Humble copied old good GOG sale scheme - with visiting the store every day and collecting badges to exchange for free games. And it seems that they currently made the second sequence.

Really interesting selection. Part of them was on my watch-list at some point. That's the main reason I'm collecting freebies elsewhere ;) However it looks that GOG Connect became quite rare...

I remembered I didn t like the game, I own on dvd somewhere, as lack of direct control space battles.
