trentonlf: So what is the Fat Man?
it's the most insane weapon: it's a nuclear rocket launcher. it has mini nukes as ammo.

So if anyone cares, I spent the day crafting, learned I can scrap abandoned houses and created a two story house and rigged it with electricity. I had so much fun doing it!

Will be watching after I eat :)
I think it would be fun if people posted what they are creating, if they are at all. I'd love to see everyone's projects

I'm so happy to see that you're enjoying post apocalyptic town simulator 2015. I hear great things.

The critics are wrong. Fallout 4 isn't Skyrim with guns. It's Animal Crossing with guns. The first DLC should allow you to open a fruit stand and start selling apples and bananas to talking squirrels and monkeys.

Oh yes, that one will do! I think I saw it once or twice in vendor stocks. Or maybe I can trade with Preston to get it (or just plainly kill him when I finish all his related quests).

Well, I was a bit forced to finally take care of settlements as even the ones you don't care can get attacked (like Bethany's farm) and the "supply chain" perk doesn't work if you stock everything in a place with zero settlers. So as my HQ is the gas station, I quickly made up a windmill and an antenna to get one setller (then I turned it off) who luckily turned out to be a woman so I can keep my women-only club (let's count our dog as female ^o^).

So, as there will be only one settler and a dog while I'm away, I'm working heavily on security with fences and machine gun turrets. And well, I guess I'll aim for the 100% hapiness&confort while I'm at it :o) I'll probably take some screenshots tomorrow or this week-end....

Yeah, I stumbled on a farm getting attacked. I think the same one you mentioned? I was looking at how to fortify it, but there is NOTHING around there and they have nothing. I fixed the fences, gave them some corn and went back to Sanctuary. Maybe I like the building stuff b/c I like Minecraft and Terraria? Dunno.

Hmm, making an all lady town sounds fun! I can't wait to see your pictures. :)

Ok, so I found the following written on the telephone poles in Fallout:

TES 01 PPL
346946

Last time they did this it nod to Oblivion (it read TES 04). I'm really not good with numbers. Any guesses as to what they are getting at? Another person on imgur said it was the number of npcs in Arena. I never played it, but that seems insane.

Just grab the materials you need for two or three heavy machine gun turrets from the workshop at Sanctuary and tote them over to the farm. I did it this way before I got the Local Leader perk (which lets you establish supply lines and share resources between locations).

Iirc: recommended minimum defense = 2 x (water + food)

Two or three heavy turrets usually cover the smaller places.

I have turrets all over Sanctuary. Defense rating 74 iirc. Don't want to lose any progress to attacks. Got 11 peeps shacking up there now. Running a supply line to Tenpines Bluff.

Got three unmanned outposts atm: Red Rocket Truck Stop, Starlight Drive In, and Outpost Zimonja. I could bring settlers to them, but I don't want to spend *all* of my gaming time building. Might get around to them later.

I'm disappointed that the gunner base on the ruined highway, the one with the two tall windmills, isn't a buildable location. I wanted it right away when I saw it. Not the best place for a town, but it'd be a slick outpost if supplied with food and water from Sanctuary. Just a place for a few rangers to keep watch on the surrounding area. Ah well.

I have no charisma, so i cant do the trade routes :(

Yeah, I just noticed that I can store stuff in the workshops (der, i can be slow), so yesterday I fortified that robot gardener compound. Next i'm gonna go back to the farm and drop crap off. I have two turrets there now.

For Sanctuary, I built a junkyard fence almost all the way around it. I just have to do a few more bits by the creek and I'll be set. I have turrets and people at the two entrances (both bridges).

Are you talking about the one base that has an elevator to get up to it on an overpass?? I just found that last night, and I was super sad as well. Making a base on the over pass would be great, but no water and you couldn't grow crops :(

I was thinking about fortifying the Happy Whatever Co-op, but everything is so spaced out with no natural bottlenecks that i'm kinda like, meh. Making a fence would take forever, and that place needs a fence.

OK, worked on it a bit today. Mainly on the defense stuff because I got raided twice by Super Mutants(and I'm just at level 15, argh....) so the main goal was to raise concrete walls and only let two entrances guarded by heavy machine turrets. I also made a special building fro my settlers (3 women, I scrapped the antenna because it's enough) but I still have to decorate it and do some accomodations so no pics of their housings at this point, it's not ready to be shown ^o^

Useful tip I learned: it's much easier to start laying out floors with the concrete blocks (in the "floor" menu) and if you hold "E" while building and use the mouse scroll wheel, you can adjust the height of the block so it's quite handy when you don't have a flat terrain.

Attached pictures:

1. Some pic from early buiding taken yesterday, I started with this corner of the gas station as a kind of guard post but I'll modify it as I did some errors as I was getting acquainted with the subtetlies of the building system. Only took this pic as it captured me, Cait and one woman taking a break :o)

2. On the top of my worker's house, I have a dedicated roof for sightseeing the surrounding landscapes, I like to see the sun rising, starry nights and all that kind of stuff :o)

3. I also used this roof to make a kind of bridge linked to the gas station roof so I can go on top of it ^o^. You can also notice my dog and its doghouse at the entrance of the station. On the right it's a part of my walls defense so I can easily go up there and shoot invaders if they come by this side (although on my 2 attacks, they showed up right at the entrance.....).

Yeah, the reqs are a bit too high imo. Cost me four level-ups (three training Charisma plus one for the perk itself). Had to put some combat perks on hold. It's okay, tho: I've been improving my weapons and armor at the crafting stations, which makes a BIG difference in damage output and damage resistance, so I still seem to be pretty beastly.

Haven't built any walls yet. Seems like it'd be a pain. Might be a higher priority for me if not for the creek surrounding Sanctuary. For now, I've got turrets all up the road, between the houses. The main bridge is covered by three turrets and a manned guard tower, and the smaller bridge by a couple of turrets. Another guard tower closer to the center of town. Should be a hell of a fight for raiders to come up the road. And if they swim across the creek, they'll still encounter the turrets covering the houses plus the settlers themselves.

Maybe I'll build a wall in short segments at a time to ease the tedium. I did raise defense to 100 today to be safer. Producing a lot of food and water. Don't want those raiders getting into my mutfruit orchard. ;)

Are you thinking of the elevator close to a lake and dam, near Mass Gravel and Sand?

Iirc, you can see the one that I like from Tenpines Bluff, if you look east (maybe north-east?). Has two tall windmill power generators. A long ramp formed by a fallen section of the road leads up to the base. Has two levels, connected by lifts/elevators.

How do the attacks work? Do they only happen when you're there? Or do they radio you for help?

First part of your message: keep in mind that you have a limited amount of structures/blocks/stuff thta you can put in one settlement. It's indicated by the "size" bar in the workshop interface. For wide areas like Sanctuary, you'll probably have to make some strategy choices as you won't be able to secure every entry points (if "advanced" enemies cross the surroundings water instead of going by the bridges).

For the "outside" attacks, in my case, I got some help call from other settlments which are not "mine" (meaning not my HQ or where I made some modfications like adding turrets).

For the two attacks on my HQ/settlement, I was there and never got attacked yet when I was away (30 hours of gameplay already). Interestingly, I got killed the second time (didn't saw they were armed with missile launchers, gasp....) but by reloading the previous save, I didn't got attacked so it's a bit of random so if it turns out ugly for you or your settlements, just reaload a previous save.

Thanks! I'll wait for the game upcoming update (next week normally) then I'll try it if it still works because I plan to build a big pyramid on the cinema drive-in location :o)
