Hello. I am playing a RTS game called "The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth" (tm). I am first playing Part I, and then afterwards, Part II with the "Witch-king" expansion.
Within the game's Option screen, there is a Sound Option called "EAX3". When I enable this checkbox, it says something to the effect of "no-can-do with your soundcard".
I think I have seen other games that have the same "EAXn" or other additional enhanced HD sound options, which were greyed-out or otherwise couldn't be set on. In recent years I've played Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, and Diablo 1 and 2. I can't remember which games also had these additional enhanced HD sound options, but most or all were not usable.
I'm curious as to whether anybody in these parts has any experience using software call Alchemy to make these additional sound options in these older games work?
I am using a pc running Windows 7 64-bit, with a CreativeLabs SoundBlaster "Audigy 5 / Rx" soundcard, with my motherboard's on-board sound disabled.
Alchemy looks to be a CreativeLabs software, but on their website, the "Audigy 5 / Rx" isn't on the list of soundcards that work with Alchemy. Perhaps the list is incomplete?
Anybody got any experience with any of this?
