I get the hate for pre-ordering, but I think it's a convenient way of buying a product you know you'll get anyway.

I pre-ordered Shin Megami Tensei III and Mass Effect Legendary recently because I knew I'd buy those games in any case and click-and-shop is too much of a hassle for me.

Edit: I'm talking about physical products, not download codes. Just to clarify.

KingofGnG: So the Cyberpunk 2077 fiasco didn't teach anyone a lesson about effin' preorders?!?
In some countries like mine, purchase a game month before could be much cheaper than ut will be on release :D

StingingVelvet has a very valid point, though. Pre-downloading is a nice feature, but is it that big of a deal if everyone's purchases is postponed to the release date?

I think GOG does a good job here by not exploiting preorder pages - only a select few high profile games like CP2077 and Biomutant. You can't really piss off preorder people if you don't allow preorders in the first place.

Edited my post. I meant physical products/wares etc., not download codes. :)

I would rather have the complete edition here on GoG.

This makes more sense, thanks for clarifying.
I would like to see Dying Light II here but only if it's going to have everything the Steam version will have. Everything except DRM, of course. We still don't have everything that Steam has for the original.

WinterSnowfall: Let's just not pre-order, m-kay? Pre-order is bbbbb... bad.

Haven't we figured that out by now, guys? Wait for the final release, reviews and so on. Less hype, less disappointment.

Alexim: I agree, but by now it's clear that pre-orders are where the real money is made. So in its own interest and in the interest of those who want to pre-order a game anyway, I think GOG needs to improve this in every possible way.
I also agree. No point in arguing that pre-order is about the worst thing a consumer can do.

Consumers want to be stupid and that can't be helped, but one other thing is for sure, platforms are going to have to have much better resources in place when it comes to refunds.
Pre-ordering through GOG can be a good way to incentivise developers to actually publish their games on this platform. Going DRM-free is after all still considered to be rather risky by many and early recouping of the costs of development (or parts thereof) is a big deal for many studios.

I also regard pre-ordering as a vote of confidence towards developers I believe in. Like CDPR, despite the fustercluck of CP2077.

This statement intrigues me. Why would a game be much cheaper by pre-ordering than on release? Is there something unique about your country?

A very volatile economy and many taxes, currently we are paing 65% in top of the price, so a $60 games cost arround $100.
This restrictions are imposed from one day to the other so I never know if tomorrow will be 90% or 100% taxes... :/
Never pre-order anything. It's dumb.
After what they did with the previous game, you'd have to be loopy to pre-order from Techland.
