paladin181: Why would Steam reject ANYTHING? They literally let almost anyone publish anything. So for Steam to reject it says to me there may be a legal problem or some such.
Steam rejects games for ideological reasons, and so does GOG too (i.e. CountryBalls Heroes which GOG rejected for no legit reason).
And it's not an accurate statement to say of Steam that "they literally let almost anyone publish anything."
On the contrary, they have a long history of refusing to allow certain anime-type/Japanese games.
Mary Skelter 2 is probably the most well-known recent example of a similar kind of game to Dungeon Travelers 1/2, which was initially censored on both Steam and GOG, but due to a huge backlash, the publisher later released on uncensor patch on their website.
The publisher never stated who asked them to censor the game in the first place, but there was a lot of plausible speculation that it was Steam who told them they either need to censor the game or else it cannot be published on Steam.
And there are many other anime/Japanese games for which that also happened, and for which Steam curation is unambiguously the reason.
And unlike many posters here, I'm not convinced that GOG now has a more relaxed curation policy in regards to games like this than Steam does. GOG made a huge fuss out of their release of Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus, never announced it in the Newsletter, put an 18+ AO warning before the GOG store page of that game even though it's rated M by the ESRB, and the banner ad for that game when it was first released on GOG had a bug that caused it not to direct customers to the game's store page for much of the banner's duration yet the duration of the banner was never extended to compensate for that bug, etc., and after that time, which was a long time ago now, none of the other real SK games ever made it to GOG.
But yet all of the SK games are on Steam with no issues. So that's an example of where GOG curation is
more strict, not less, than Steam's, in regards to games like DT 1/2.
It's very likely that GOG curation would reject DT 1/2 for exactly the same reasons that Steam curation did.
