PixelBoy: Why GOG never even tried to attempt DRM-free FLAC music distribution is another question. That would be much easier than movies, presumably.

JMich: They did answer that back when movies were introduced. The answer basically was that there are DRM-Free lossless music marketplaces out there, but there wasn't a service like that for movies. Tell me if you want me to go digging for said statement.
OK, that makes almost some sense.
Of course, the existing DRM-free stores are a joke.

They are not available in Europe, and even if they were, paying 2.5 times as much for a download as I would for a CD (including intercontinental shipping) is not a real option.

As for indie music, then yes, there are actually a couple of sites. I haven't bought anything from those yet, because I would prefer to have all (or at least most) of my music purchases in one place.

What I find really ironic is how the industry in some cases almost forces to pirate things. If I want to buy let's say classic hard rock, it's "not available in your country". +1 for pirates.

And if I want to buy some kpop, there is a wonderful store called Bugs! which has almost all kpop on sale as MP3 and FLAC. Too bad it's all in Korean, so creating an account is challenging. When you finally get it done and try to buy something, you'll notice that the site only works with Internet Explorer.

When you start up the clumsy and slow IE, and finally manage to get something in the shopping cart, during the payment process you will be surprised to find out that among the 30 payment options available, they don't have PayPal, Visa, MasterCard or any other standard payments, only some local Korean payment systems and Korean credit cards.

I shouldn't probably complain about that though. At least they have legal FLACs in Korea, which they really don't even have in my country. Still, it really doesn't make any sense to give pirates such an advantage on all continents and then complain how people don't buy music anymore.
(OK, I could get just about everything in lossy formats from iTunes, but disliking both lossy formats and Apple, that's simply not even a hypothetical option.)

Torence: To be honest, it is not possible to watch free iTunes DRM movies in recent years. Since all iTunes movies are encrypted with Fairplay DRM protection. If you want to enjoy iTunes DRM movies freely on any devices. It is possible for you when all iTunes movies are cracked DRM protection with third party software. Tuneskit DRM Media Converter. It works at 30x faster speed to convert videos losslessly.
In the olden days, when staff actually monitored and cared about this forum, post contained explicit links or references to craks would be gently asked to remove it, as it is actually not legal to promote it so it is a very small danger for gOg to have them publicly available on their forum.

Today? no one cares anymore. As with most that happens on this forum, it will quietly slide by and stay here. Just to show how the state of things are now.

I don't want drm protection and want to enjoy DRM-free movies anywhere, so I used the media software from DRMare to help me remove DRM. It is specific for doing this and it works as I expected.

PixelBoy: I am disappointed about GOG not doing more with the movies section.

Why GOG never even tried to attempt DRM-free FLAC music distribution is another question. That would be much easier than movies, presumably.
You could say the same for Ebooks.

But I guess, as has been said, it is all about profit for effort and time well best spent.

GOG already have enough unresolved issues, so why waste it on movies and ebooks and music, if spending the same amount of time on games pays better.

None of us except GOG know how close they run things financially, so maybe they just don't have the necessary flexibility.

I certainly fear that GOG may disappear one day, due to market and business pressures.

Far too many I suspect, take GOG's longevity for granted, when there are a lot of forces out there against them.

Klumpen0815: After seeing that some content on Vimeo is available for DRM-free purchase (Earthlings) and some is not (Sherlock, etc...), I wonder whether anyone knows of sources for legal DRM-free movie/series purchases.

There's
https://www.gog.com/movies where I got the great movies Ink and The Frame
as well as https://groupees.com/ which rarely has movie bundles like the Devolver bundle where I got one of my favourite movies A Line in the Sand as well as the also nice Enemy Empire, Down Here and a few others (some of which seem to be region locked outside of bundles).
I haven't found a filter link for Vimeo's DRM-free offerings yet and would appreciate it if there was one since right now I still have to look through the catalogue manually.

I'd like to know of more sources, please help. I don't care whether it's "only" about indies since some of those are very good and often better than the big ones imho.
Unfortunately GOG stopped adding movies to their catalogue ages ago, is there any chance this will change and why aren't the Devolver titles in here when they are even available DRM-free elsewhere?
