Sweet. Thanks for the heads up. It should be playable when you don't have to use an awkward controller.
Here's hoping for a GOG release!

The N64 controller was actually really well suited to shooters for its time. It had some of the earliest console shooters that allowed full analogue aiming and strafing. Obviously mouse and keyboard is better, but the N64 pad wasn't worse for shooters than the various PS and XBOX pads.

I hate Bethesda so much.
If it's anything like the console versions, this is going to look like crap, the trailer I saw for this showed a horribly over-saturated, over-bright port with all the dark, gloomy atmosphere of the original completely sucked out.

I get the feeling Doom64EX is going to continue to be the definitive way to play (and respect) this game.

Pretty sure this commercial release is just Doom 64 EX. When it was announced some people were bugging Kaiser about it on Twitter and his replies at the time suggested he was under NDA about it.

I believe it's using the Kex engine which is a heavily modified fork derived from Doom64EX made by Kaiser, but has so far delivered some pretty mediocre ports (like blood: fresh supply) and the footage of the new Doom64 port Bethesda showed off makes it look far worse than in EX or on N64.

Doom64 pre-order bonus! Oh, goody! Let me jump right on that, after all Bethesda is trustworthy... Who's with me!

KEX is Kaiser's engine. All the EX ports (Doom 64, Turok and Turok 2, Forsaken, Powerslave, etc.) run on it.

The trailer footage is probably the result of settings tweaks someone thought would be good for the sake of the trailer. I've little doubt that Bethesda will find something to monkeywrench into it since they're actually selling it (whether it's BNet login junk or something else) though.
Doomworld to be closed down in favour of creation club?
I played it a while back and was not impressed.

I probably downloaded some port and played through it on a keyboard. No desire to ever play it again.
