Breja: There actually is a Magnum P.I. episode Legend of the Lost Art, based entirely around putting Tom Selleck in an Indiana Jones-like plot (and costume) because he was supposed to play Indy in the film.

Timboli: Ah that reminds me of another classic - High Road To China ... starring Tom etc.

Romancing The Stone is another, with Michael Douglas etc.

They all came out around the time of Raiders ... roughly ... not long after as I recall.

They'd be more appropriate as movies to query whether anyone remembers ... but then they likely wouldn't fit in with the dubious theory behind this thread.

maxleod: There actually is a MacGyver episode based on Arthur and The Knights of The Round Table, and he did actually play in Stargate.

Timboli: Does anyone remember Stargate? Surely not ... or maybe just a couple who also remember Star Wars and Star Trek.

I think the OP is on some kind of nostalgia trip ... some kind of trip anyway. ;)
What fo you mean by dubious theory? And why would I be ona trip?

But, do you recommend these movies? Should I check them out? I am on the lookout for swashbuckling films.

TheNamelessOne_PL: I am on the lookout for swashbuckling films.
swashbucklers are a different genre.

the likes of indiana jones etc are very much pulp adventures.
I prefer THX 1138.
As your new president I will immediately sign an executive order banning movie series from going past 3 films.

*aide whispers in ear*

With exceptions for Star Trek and James Bond, of course.
