Arinielle: Since this is still going on ( I said all I could for a while and then left to try to do other stuff and go have our Friday horror movie night with some friends as usual ) I'd like to suggest action instead of just arguing with people on the forums that are more than likely just hanging around these threads just to argue and try to make those concerned to be completely out of it.

Actions are louder than the same words over and over on a topic and in some ways chasing some folks off from posting thoughts and concerns about when a new game is introduced to the site and needs something fixed... or just want to express their happiness for the game coming to the site.

The threads are just giving ammo. If you don't agree with something, send e-mails and comments when on social media. This isn't meant to drag people in to choose sides.
Ammo to who, and plenty have already done that.

Problem is, like we saw with Mighty No. 9, it seems what we say is stopping with the PR team, which seems to be the root of this problem seeing as they made it a point to apologize to the likes of ResetERA and Reddit instead of simply doing nothing, a tactic many of us know works.

Why else would so many be getting the same message in e-mail when sending complaints, that this has been forwarded to the PR team and we have nothing further to say on this?

Arinielle: When we start seeing other signs like GOG blocking people and such, we'll know just what stage this is at and where to go from there. Right now there isn't anything quite illegal ( shitty, but not illegal ) happening.
It starts with the Human Resources side of a company and spreads from there. GOG needs to fire whoever made those posts on Reddit and ResetERA, and whoever wrote that 'apology' on Twitter. Otherwise, they'll slowly end up like every other company that fails to keep these types at bay.

Only things I could think of on the top of my head that have been what we did before. I think that's where we got hung up and opted to contact those that have ads on those sites which in some cases resulted in ad removal from those sites.

I normally have a type of adblock or something on always, but use Brave as my main browser and most places ( if I can ) I will support by giving money when I can/buying some of what they have.

But when it comes to games distribution, who all is really going to stop going to sites and stick with it? So what else could there be if nobody really has legal grounds or the money to take some of these to court?

I just see a lot of fighting with the wrong people right now and that NEVER helps. Nobody will have their minds changed or at least understand what's going on if any time they see something like this brought up, they only see people arguing.

GOG and CDPR are supposedly still different entities and keep doing what they do though GOG was bought by CDPR. So if CD has nothing to do with any of this, then that would also be something to bring up. If they are, then you can't really do much other than have a blacklist of places to make known.

GoG has always been a division of the parent company. To be fair to GoG, when it comes to moderation and PR, they have been understaffed forever. When EnigmaticT was here, he did a good job soft moderating the forum with a timely post here and there. But that was years ago. Since then, they'd hire a community manager, but that CM was also responsible for Facebook and Twitter as I understand it. And literally, it would be the one person. That person would quit, there would be no one for awhile (Judas or Konrad) would fill in, rinse wash repeat. I don't think Konrad's primary responsibilities have been PR but maybe he's been moved.

As to Linko, he's fairly new here. I think he's trying. And frankly, this place needs a bit of moderation. Before, and you have seen some of them, but these forum regulars would go around threads like they did with this one and try to convince people they don't like to leave and shitstorm it until it became meaningless and filled with insults. And every time there was a new CM, they'd all start reporting the people they've been trying to run off for years. As you can see, old habits die hard for some of them.

No criticism of Linko here, because he is probably the best CM we have had here since Enigmatic-T left because he seems to care and seems to be fairly even-handed, but GoG doesn't put a lot of resources into their PR team and it shows.

If I had to guess, GoG regrets how they have handled the situation and realize, that maybe the best thing right now is to say nothing and let it blow over lest they offend people more. The fact they are leaving this discussion open is a great sign, so we should thank them for that.

So it wasn't just me seeing people trying to run off others from the forums...

Yeah, I can see Linko is trying while trying to also sit back and let things solve itself. I've left enough of my criticism on these threads as is so tried to think of something else to get the message across while not having the forum erupt and also keep others from wanting to post just in threads of new games to the site.

I wish they didn't delete the original GG thread so it would be more contained to start with. I get stupidly tired of seeing people insult each other and the companies involved.. that never works out and is just plain shitty to do.

GOG has desperately needed more help in PR and moderating forums for a long time. If they're doing well enough, I don't see why they aren't able to keep people around.
