OldFatGuy: EDIT: Oops, didn't the see the first question. No, I don't think I have a gigabit internet connection here.
timppu: What kind of internet connection do you have? I presume it is not mobile, so are you connected with an ethernet cable or wifi? What is the nominal speed and type that your internet service provider markets it as (like mine is a "10 Mbit/s cable modem", I guess)?
I currently have a 10 Mbit/s (1.25 Mbytes/s) connection with which I am pretty happy overall, and for a fee I could upgrade it to a 100 Mbit/s connection (12.5 Mbytes/s), but I am too much of a cheapskate to do that. But, even that would be less than half of your speed. That's why I am interested to know what kind of connection you have, oh and how much are you paying for it per month?
Maybe I am mistaking you with someone else, but didn't you live in rural area?
Come to think of it, on top of this 10Mbit/s cable modem, I also have an even faster mobile 4G/LTE connection on my phone, I recall seeing it run at least at 20Mbit/s or so. I just wish I could somehow combine these two so that if I need to download some very big file, they'd be both utilized at the same time. Now my 4G connection is mostly just not utilized. EDIT: I guess I should Google:

http://beta.speedtest.net/ and test your internet speed? I'd be interested to hear what results you get.
This is wi-fi on my laptop. The last time I checked my desktop connected with an ethernet cable it was getting faster speeds than my laptops were but that was before my IPS package wsa upgraded (about a year ago) so I'm not sure what speeds I'm getting there now.
http://beta.speedtest.net/result/5736048833 I don't remember the details of my ISP package (I got a package deal of phone and internet) from Comcast but my bill says I have "Blast" internet whatever that means. Now that I think about it, IIRC it was advertised as 125Mbs. I think. My memory sucks. I'm going to have to see if I can that desktop to work and try it with the ethernet cable to see what I get in there. Won't be today though.
Oh, and yes, I do live in a rural area, albeit in one of the fastest growing counties in the country. I live in Loudoun County, VA. Eastern Loudoun isn't really rural but western Loudoun (where I am) most definitely is. I'm right at the foot of the blue ridge mountains and the population of my town is maybe 500. Maybe. LOL. Fields, woods, and farmland are Western loudoun. Which is why I love it.
