This is cute little "RPG" that is short, but I found very fun and kind of neat. It can be done in a single setting if you want. It's called "Hero of the Kingdom" and it's a Steam game and anyone that is interested needs to change the "X"'s above to "2"s and the "Z"s to "N"s. At least I think that's right. LOL.
Thank you for "Hero of the Kingdom" OFG, I had it wishlisted already so I couldn't resist the urge to see if the code was still valid, and it was :)!

Regarding the topic of the thread, I have recently upgraded my internet so everything has been faster for me of late.

OldFatGuy: EDIT: Oops, didn't the see the first question. No, I don't think I have a gigabit internet connection here.
What kind of internet connection do you have? I presume it is not mobile, so are you connected with an ethernet cable or wifi? What is the nominal speed and type that your internet service provider markets it as (like mine is a "10 Mbit/s cable modem", I guess)?

I currently have a 10 Mbit/s (1.25 Mbytes/s) connection with which I am pretty happy overall, and for a fee I could upgrade it to a 100 Mbit/s connection (12.5 Mbytes/s), but I am too much of a cheapskate to do that. But, even that would be less than half of your speed. That's why I am interested to know what kind of connection you have, oh and how much are you paying for it per month?

Maybe I am mistaking you with someone else, but didn't you live in rural area?

Come to think of it, on top of this 10Mbit/s cable modem, I also have an even faster mobile 4G/LTE connection on my phone, I recall seeing it run at least at 20Mbit/s or so. I just wish I could somehow combine these two so that if I need to download some very big file, they'd be both utilized at the same time. Now my 4G connection is mostly just not utilized. EDIT: I guess I should Google: https://www.google.fi/?gws_rd=ssl#q=how+to+combine+internet+connections

EDIT: That reminds me... could you head to e.g. http://beta.speedtest.net/ and test your internet speed? I'd be interested to hear what results you get.

This is wi-fi on my laptop. The last time I checked my desktop connected with an ethernet cable it was getting faster speeds than my laptops were but that was before my IPS package wsa upgraded (about a year ago) so I'm not sure what speeds I'm getting there now.

http://beta.speedtest.net/result/5736048833

I don't remember the details of my ISP package (I got a package deal of phone and internet) from Comcast but my bill says I have "Blast" internet whatever that means. Now that I think about it, IIRC it was advertised as 125Mbs. I think. My memory sucks. I'm going to have to see if I can that desktop to work and try it with the ethernet cable to see what I get in there. Won't be today though.

Oh, and yes, I do live in a rural area, albeit in one of the fastest growing counties in the country. I live in Loudoun County, VA. Eastern Loudoun isn't really rural but western Loudoun (where I am) most definitely is. I'm right at the foot of the blue ridge mountains and the population of my town is maybe 500. Maybe. LOL. Fields, woods, and farmland are Western loudoun. Which is why I love it.

OldFatGuy: Drakensang is a great, albeit difficult (IMO) RPG that I had tons of fun with in the past but never finished....
Really great game and one of my favourites! The Drakensang Saga version is the best version (it doesn't need any internet connection or a client to install and run) which contains the original game plus The River Time (prequel) plus Phileasson's Secret (expansion).

I've got a DVD version that is, IIRC, DRM free that has all of those too. But I wasn't sure it if would work on Windows 10, AND, more importantly, I saw a BundleStars bundle for $2.99 that included this so I figured it was worth three bucks to know it would run right.

LOL, and then of course at first I couldn't get it to run even on Steamr. Had to right click on the game in my library, and click properties, and click "Launch Options" and add "-windowed" to finally get it to run.

But yeah, it's a great game. I really should try my DVD though to see if it will run on Windows 10 because it does have TROT and it's expansion. The BundleStars bundle only had Drakensang.

Here is a link to the BundleStars bundle... I hope LOL.

https://www.bundlestars.com/en/bundle/rpg-heroes-2-bundle

BTW, I hesitated to do this, because GOG sells it, but I already have it here at GOG so no need for me to have it at Steam too so if anyone is interested in this one from the bundle let me know and I'll shoot you the code.

LOL, sorry!! Didn't mean too!

Besides, internet download speeds don't make a place shitty.... well, wait.. as a pretty serious gamer... maybe it can... LOL.

I've been disabled since Nov 24, 1999, so it's been gaming that's kept me sane... or at least not quite as insane.. however one wants to look at it. lol

Damn. Beautiful rural idyll and internet ten times faster than mine? That hardly seems fair :P

Somehow I missed this response. You're very welcome! Hope you enjoy it. Especially glad the code worked, I wasn't real sure I had remembered the changes I made correctly. lol

Boy Drakensang really is fun. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but I love it. I'm just loving the heck out of it and I'm just starting out... still at Kosh. A very complex game in terms of all of the options you have to improve your character. Really is one of those games I think where being a "Jack of all trades and master of none" approach won't work. Since you have party members it's probably best to have each one "specialize" in certain areas and cover the "Jack of all trades" part that way. But who knows, maybe you could create a character that was really good at a lot of things. Really fun though, with probably more options to creating your character than most RPG's.

Now that you got the game to run, try running it in Fullscreen mode once it's launched. I thought I remembered hearing somewhere that you just have to launch in windowed, and then alt+enter once it's at the menu and you're good. (On Win 10)

Yeah, but for some reason it didn't work when my resolution was at 1600X900. My monitor's "native" resolution is 1920X1080, but my eyes have been getting worse so I had make things bigger. As soon as I changed my resolution to the native 1920X1080, the alt-cntr worked. So now I'm going back and forth in resolutions just for this game. lol

Oops : / That sucks.
I don't know about any faster downloading speed (in this country 1Mb is a privilege) but I do know that Steam sometimes has the maniacal idea that suddenly I possess 153.724.093,092 GB running through the disk or available space.

And I don't know how that glitch even happens but it has done so 6 times.

Actually, THANK YOU!!

I didn't read your first post thoroughly enough (probably because as I said I had already read about using Alt-Return) but I hadn't read/heard before was the part you added about waiting until you got to the main menu....

Soooo, to test it out (since before when I had the issue I was pressing Alt-Return while the intro was still playing) I set my resolution back to 1600X900, started Drakensang, waited till the main screen was up.... AND IT WORKED!!!!

No more having to change resolutions!

*Snoopy Happy Dance*

THANK YOU!
