CMiq: Is it a litte excessive to have and sell that many games in development? Maybe, but it's of no real concern to me at least since I don't pick up games that are still in development on principle.
They have two "released" games, Space Accident and Dofamine, that should have much more content and are first-person puzzle games. Four of the games in development are first-person / over-the-shoulder-third-person, at least one of those is a puzzle game; so not only is it an excessive number of the same genre in development, some of it is content that ought to be used to finish their "released" games.

NuffCatnip: [...] most of their new games are cobbled together messes that will never get finished.

BreOl72: Simply don't buy them.
I wish all solutions to problems were that easy.
Sure, and you can scroll a bit further through the 10 meters of screen in the 'what did just update' thread. There's an easily applicable fix for you I'd say.

I won't derail the thread further, I promise. :P

I said it from the beginning that these games were highly suspect and absolutely below GOG's standards. Seeing those blatantly fake reviews only confirms that they absolutely shouldn't have been released on GOG.
In this case, the "curators" of the GOG store should give us an explanation, because there are only two options, and neither is desirable:

1. They have been incapable of doing their job and can't tell the difference between an asset flip and a real game (see PolyClassic and POLYGON Western https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3d/environments/historic/polygon-western-low-poly-3d-art-by-synty-112212).

2. They are colluding with the developers and are scathingly selling this junk in their "curated" store.

Probably 2 because the scummy dev is Ukrainian and GOG has definitely stood in solidarity with Ukraine.

And yet: simply not clicking on "Add to cart" requires considerably less effort than scrolling through 10 meters of screen.
See: there's easy - and then there's "easy".
Any time I see an early access (was the term 'InDev' abandoned?) game that is heavily discounted, I see a big red flag.

There may be unwanted functions in this kind of barebone games, like crypto miners.

slurredprey: I've actually heard of We Are The Dwarves,
I've heard of it mostly in context that it was 90% off for like 11 months a year :D

Themken: early access (was the term 'InDev' abandoned?
When they redesigned the search page, they started using "Early Access" there. They didn't change "in development" on the banner on store pages, or in the linked support article. I brought this up in the announcement thread at the time. It's all the more confusing since one of the FAQs is titled, Is this different from early access? with no mention of Steam.

Yeah, these Whale Rock releases push "Early Access" to the extreme... the bad extreme.

I'm willing to pay for a clunky early build of a game, but...

... an asset-flip that barely qualifies as a proof of concept (and could be argued that it doesn't even qualify as that!)?

I keep remembering GOG touting its curation as one of the main elements of the company that elevated it above Steam.

It's becoming more-and-more like Steam... asset flips... unfinished games... EA games that may never see release (and minus the AAA day one releases that make Steam bearable).

And personally I may excuse this... if...

... I hadn't talked to so many devs who had COMPLETED GAMES that GOG rejected (and not only rejected... but the devs claimed they weren't absolutely certain why their games were rejected!?!?).

That's what grinds my gears. Not that these barely "games" released here... but that completed games didn't.

Yeah.... I think most of their games are lol

neumi5694: That makes one wonder how the "curation" of GOG works.
Yeah I get the impression it is far from perfect at times, no doubt also having an agenda aspect.
Those games on the surface seem like they might be good, but when you investigate further, doubts creep in ... at least for me.

I suspect they have sold fairly well, in which case maybe it met GOG's purpose.

BreOl72: Remember these guys?
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/release_buddy_simulator_1984_from_feardemic_80762

They also have six (6) "Coming Soon" titles here on GOG (and 1 EA title - though not on GOG)...plus that one ("Buddy Simulator 1984") that got released, only to get pulled from the store again, two days later.

Edit: https://www.gog.com/en/games?publishers=feardemic

In case you're wondering: "Bloody Hell Hotel" isn't shown on the publisher's page here in the shop - yet it is shown on the publisher's homepage as published by them...
They pulled Buddysim because there was a misunderstanding and the devs never approved a release on GOG. According to the devs it might come back at a later time.
