As it seems, many people are pointing out that Daggerfall: Unity has a Linux version out there that GOG could (or, should, they say) bring here same way they did with Windows GOG's Cut.

Is there any chance of this happening?
But all these mods are compatible as well?
If the providers of Daggerfall: Unity did not provide GOG with the Linux version, then you are out-of-luck until they do.

Or it may be that GOG decided it was too much effort and work to do a Linux Cut. As after all, they don't support Linux, just provide the odd Linux version of a game as a bonus. Many games at GOG of course have that bonus.

And it may simply turn up later at GOG ... just not a priority right now, due to it being unsupported Linux, and GOG always seem to have way too much on their plate.

Meanwhile, if the Linux version is free elsewhere, just grab that and connect to the MOD makers about a solution to add their mods.

I would think so?

From looking at unity files that i've seen the biggest difference is if it encodes the files with 32 or 64bit variables. Otherwise the engine should likely work on either system, and inserting the linux binaries should make it run fine...

At least in theory, i haven't actually tested this. I wouldn't mind some confirmation. If that's the case GoG just including an 'extra' which is the linux executable data would be all that's needed...

Then again, it would be better not as an installer and rather just a 7z you extract to cover linux and windows users for this. Or include both executables at the same time as it shouldn't take much space. (I see most RenPy games do that, then again it's built on python which doesn't take much room for the compiler/interpreter)

Welp, unfortunately that looks like the only solution right now.
Gladly Daggerfall Unity's documentation is good, and many people are making videos about it. So it might not be that troublesome to deal with possible incompatibilities.

I have no idea of how Daggerfall file structure work, but, that might be possible.
Bastion's installation folder works the same way. (At least the version in Steam, with Steam OS Play). Both Linux and Windows executables are there, and everything you need to make it drm-free is zip/7z'p the folder and execute it later.
