So I've been looking to buy another game recently, DIABLO with HELLFIRE dlc. It seems this game has no conmtroller support though & was hoping people could talk more about this. WHY? why can controllers not be used as an option for a game that has had console releases? Is there any chance that some of these retro games that HAVE had console releases be considered for an update allowing controller usage? I know that there are many people that prefer using keyboard & mouse but I'm not one of them, there are reasons for this. I believe that this is achievable but an oversight or perhaps not enough demand. Can anyone speak on this?

Because Blizzard didn't implement it. Why are you asking us? This is not the Blizzard development forum anno 1998.
The game has no controller support because at the time of development because the entire game was built around pointing and clicking.

It did technically have a Playstation release, but in those days PC and console versions of the same game usually differed vastly and the game would have been effectively rebuilt for the Playstation release. It's not a multiplatform game, it's very much a PC game that was chopped around to get it onto the PSX.
I would say there's zero chance of controller support being officially added at this point. You might be able to use something like Xpadder or Joy2key to map the controller to the mouse and keyboard, but I expect it won't work very well with Diablo.

I MADE my purchase here not from bllizzard.com besides I'm just asking. I think it's a fair point & question.

Ahh yes i've heard about xpadder but it has a price tag on it also and potential compatibilty issues still! Well the redsign for psx makes sense I just thjought it was a shame it could'nt recieve controller supprt for people eho wanted it that's all. Games feel very different wiith keyboard mouse.

Because the game was made that way.

Chances for a controller support? Zero.
You could use a third party software to play with controller, like xpaddder.

But fair or not, this is a user forum and none of us sold you the game. ;-)

Like someone already said, the console release is 'different' - not just the 'PC game + controller support'. Maybe buy the Playstation version on Ebay and run it in an Emulator?

I think teceem's point was that GOG didn't develop the game, Blizzard did. And they did so over 20 years ago.
At this point, outside of fan hacks/mods, the game is pretty much set in stone. It is what it is.

For what it's worth, Xpadder is a good piece of software and I've definitely had my money's worth out of it. However I'm not confident it would help much here, the game is far too cursor driven. 20 years ago most PC games were primarily keyboard and mouse, joystick and gamepad support was for things like flight sims and racing games, but if a game was designed around the mouse there would almost never be controller support.

xpadder seems risky as there's no guarantee it will be compatible though & it costs money..some of the games i'm talking about are really old but what about more modern games? Are the witcher games strictly keyboard mouse too?

Only the first one.

damn this is a franchise i missed out on, heard ALOT of people endlessly praise this franchise so i though recently about getting the first game only i really need controller support. Is it worth starting experience at the second game & avoiding the first one? Any one can say?

xpadder doesn't require any specific game compatibility. But I don't see the point... you still won't be playing it like the Playstation version.

Games like Diablo and Soulbringer on GoG would play much better with a gamepad and old WoW style targetting instead of pointing and clicking for almost everything, which ironically, is something that would work better with a touch screen or tablet.

PC disaster race strikes again with the console version being better in some way. It was like this with Soul Reaver.

I thought i saw a piece talking about that game, how it wasn't blizzard that made it, rather the game was reverse engineered and then updated adding in features for Playstation. Or maybe another team did the work and then Blizzard finished it and published it. Not sure.
