Does anyone have a solution for Oblivion having poor controller support? I'm using a xbox one controller and want to avoid the keyboard as I have my computer hooked up to my TV
Maybe this will help.

or buy cheap 360 PC controller. I have couple of these because they work better with older games.

You could at least suggest an actual controller.

Like so.

As to the matter of Oblivion having poor controller support, confusing. Wasn't it made with controllers in mind, much to the detriment of the game? Let's see...hmm, no source port of Oblivion. Oh well. Guess you can't just pull an OpenMW.

I have the control I suggest, and it work great. Lot's of games don't work probably with Xbox one layout.

If it's for newer games I would suggest PS4 or PS4 controller which are plug and play on PC.

Yeah, that's what makes the 8Bitdo great. Costs less, has better sticks, and a mode switch on the back.

I wonder if that's the controller my friend showed me. He showed me a cheap controller designed not to get stick drift. It looks similar to the one you linked. Might buy one now. Thanks

If it has Hall Effect Sticks, it's possible! They use magnetic sensing instead of physical contacts.

Are XBox 360 controllers really so bad, and 8BitDo so good? I've considered purchasing one, particularly tempted because they make spare parts available for purchase, but as my 360 controller still functions, I haven't...

Oblivion has controller support in the same way a ghost exists. It's technically there, but doesn't actually do anything.

Hi OP,

The northern UI mod implements decent controller support for oblivion (https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/48577?tab=files). If you want controller support without the UI changes, download Northern UI away (on the files page of the mod).

You can also wait for Skyblivion.

Not quite the way I'd phrase it.

The 8bitdo are versatile, not locked to the layout I don't like (I grew up on a NES, then SNES), and depending on which one you buy, it'd be quite a good on the go controller or such. The Xbox360 controller is fine, but it isn't what many of us want.

It supports old Direct Input controllers and IIRC it even sucks at those.
NorthernUI Away basically forces the game to acknowledge that X360/XInput controllers exist, and makes the game feel like it was devved with controller support in mind. That's funny to say, for a game that has a PS3 and X360 port.
