Hi, question:

Am I going to be stepping on any rules or anything if I offer to buy someone here a free game if they can solve a computer problem? I have a big one that I don't think can be solved, but am eager enough to offer a game win if someone can solve it.

Thx.

As somebody thats run many giveaways here in the past, no.

Such giveaways in the past have been fairly common.

You'll only likely run afoul of gogs rules if directly advertising (for another company for instance), or covering politics.

That said, its best to ensure you figure out some rules first to prevent scammers and encourage participation.

Don't worry about giving a game away, just ask the question and someone may know something about the problem. I know a lot that are here for freebies but not all are that way inclined.

If you do it should be ok, but make sure to make the title clear so people know what it's about and know to come there to help you out(as in list the name of the game and the issue in the title, and that you want help/etc). Have fun regardless of what you do, OP.
