3D Realms comes back with two new titles: Combustion and Phantom Fury!

Retro style action RPGs – Combustion, set in a mysterious, noir world, and Phantom Fury, heavily interactive, adrenaline-rich journey!

Take a trip back in time, and join the retro adventure – soon on GOG!
It doesn't look like we'll be surprised today

It's a shame, I would have liked to buy Phantom Fury. I immediately picked up Ion Fury and Aftershock here on GOG. Well, I guess I'll have to do without it, luckily there are more than enough games to choose from.
Ah come on.. really?!

Looks like I get to keep my money after all.

Sad news, for sure.
But there are plenty of other similar shooters that are releasing here for me to choose from.
Plus my already monumental backlog of same.

I need to stop thinking of this as a loss, since in the end it's saving me money, and all I'm missing out on is a bunch of release-day hype that I don't partake in anyway.

Good riddance.

This is true.

In addition, a whole bunch of gamers will only buy the game for €/$ 1 from a junk bundle in a few years or even resort to Warez. And then there is the loss of image. Either way, this decision is a loss for the developer/publisher.

The way 3DRealms treats their gog customers I don't see this as a loss if I'm being honest.
Apart from that Slipgate Ironworks don't have a stellar track record. From what I've read and seen the gunplay isn't exactly fun. The game looks good I have to admit, and future patches might turn this into a great game, but I won't buy it, even if it gets a gog release later down the line. They've simply been to crappy to us. :P
So when is GOG going to get the news that 3D Realms has said that Phantom Fury is now only coming to Steam?
Probably still trying to renegotiate and get it released on GOG, despite what's been said by staff on Discord?

As the quote goes.
"Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment."

Judging by this thread, it's as good as dead:

Well that's a shame. I really enjoyed Ion Fury and was looking forward to this title. Oh well.
How about taking the store page down GOG? Looks like devs are not bring the game here.

I saw smaller developers release their games on GOG and other storefronts like GOG. So what is Slipgate Ironworks excuse?

From what it looks like:
New management (Saber Interactive) dictating a more anti-DRM-free course going forward.

The only problem with that is that it seems to be DRM-free on Steam, so that is not the issue. Anti gOg =/= Anti DRM-free
Not much left then, other than Saber Interactive apparently not being a proponent of/not liking:

- offline installers
- game preservation
- GOG itself (CDPR by association)

The latter one maybe?
Wouldn't put it past Saber Interactive if they're still butt-hurt over their Russian studio being pulled from 2022's next-gen update for the Witcher 3.

Since the game is DRM free on Steam, then game preservation is also not an issue, anyone can back up the game as much as they want and preserve it on any device they want.

anti gOg =/= anti game preservation
Maybe they don't like the patching process on GOG? Looks like this game still needs a lot of patching in its current state ...
