Dark_art_: IMHO "devs" are the single ones who have a say in how a game should be played.
I disagree. The users should have a say, especially when it comes to accessibility issues or the mods that people want to make. There's no reason that one shouldn't, say, be allowed to play a randomized version of Hollow Knight, or to fight a version of Grimm that has infinite health. (There are mods for both of them, and in the latter case, you are scored by how much damage you manage to do before you die.)
Dark_art_: I like options but some games are not worth playing just for the sake of playing (EG Celeste, Super Meat Boy, Spelunky and the list goes on), dificulty is what makes the game good.
If you feel that difficulty is what makes the game good, feel free to play it on the hardest difficulty setting you can manage.
(Worth noting that Celeste does have an Assist Mode which can make the game easy or even trivial; you can even skip chapters outright if you don't like a particular chapter or just want to unlock Chapter 9 on a new save file (though there's still the heart gate...).)
