They said no to Dodonpachi Resurrection but maybe that's because rebinding controls is a little restricted. I wasn't able to use my HotRod SE with it the way I want to.

Coming soon

I do hope they preserve the original Zero Wing translation (specifically the one used for the European Sega Mega Drive version), or at the very least include the option of using it; it's just too iconic to throw it away, particularly seeing as that translation became famous at one point.

With this said, Zero Wing does suffer from one serious flaw. During the game, you can upgrade your ship, and it takes a while to reach full power. The problem is that, if you die (which can easily happen since you die in one hit), you lose all your power ups and have to start from scratch, which is a problem since the game, it seems, is expecting you to be powered up at this point. Essentially, this makes the game's "multiple lives" feature pointless, as if you die you pretty much have no hope of being able to recover.

Do these other shmups have the same issue, by any chance?

Edit: It seems this version of Zero Wing comes with emulator-like save states and a practice mode, which should help mitigate things somewhat. Also, why does the game require 256 MB of RAM when it only needs 10 MB of storage?

Only the arcade versions? A great injustice.

You wouldn't be phrasing it like that if you were the one collecting the coins.

What coins?

The original coin-op machine's. Many games that are derived from arcades retain quirks that meant to maximize the insertion of coins more than the gameplay quality.
