I noticed that many of older releases of older games (DOS based etc), have been updated. In the changelog it mentioned that cloud saves have been added.
While I can understand how this works for people who use the galaxy client, I don't understand how that works for those like myself who uses the offline installers.
Have the offline installers changed in some way? If yes, isn't that dangerous in the long run to be left with potentially problematic offline installers?

Cloud saves don't work without galaxy and yes they have messed with offline installers and broken some games. Most games shouldn't break, however.

It doesn't. Cloud saving only works with Galaxy. The reason the offline installers get updated is that the offline installers should always install the latest version of a game. In theory the update shouldn't affect you when you don't have Galaxy installed. However, if you have a very old OS (XP or earlier) it is possible that the game doesn't run on it anymore even though the old version ran just fine.
This is fucked up.
So basically GOG is pushing their client and offline installers be damned.
This is pissing me off.
It's one thing to support galaxy, but to break offline installers is not acceptable.

You realise any breakage is accidental, right? If you find a broken game, report it and they'll fix it.

So the game that was reported back in March, has it been fixed yet?

Not according to changelog or gogdb.

My point was that you were representing this as policy rather than ineptitude.

EIGHT 8 MONTHS that it has been reported and not fixed.
EIGHT.
They are either ignoring it or are incapable of fixing it.
So choose, is it malice or incompetence?

I already expressed my opinion that it's ineptitude.
