timppu: No, it would be totally silly to allow them to do that.

DadJoke007: Why would it be silly for the customers to have complete control over their own library and purchases? This option is available at Steam by the way.
Silly or not, updates shpuld be optional! And I mean in every software!

Hammercorps: is this something they could change easily? Or is it a complicated, expensive process?
It shouldn't be THAT complicated or expensive. But... knowing GOG's coding skills, it's probably better if we don't ask them to do it. Last time they changed something in the library, we lost the "manual sorting" feature on our shelves. GOG said they couldn't get a working solution for manual sorting, so they just turned it off.

ps. There is (or was? don't know...) some script written by one of the forum users here that allows manual sorting. Tells a lot about GOG when an external script does exactly what they couldn't -.-

Hammercorps: This is probably redundant, but is there a clean way to permanently remove games from a GOG account?

I know I'm going to get questions, the main reason is I'm sick of seeing updates for the games in my account which I bought cheap on impulse and want to get rid of.

Supposedly, the only way is to get the entire purchase revoked (not refunded) which removes all games in said purchase.
Via unistall form application.

The script (adalias fundamentals) still exists and manually sorting with it works :D
You could like go outside and do something to forget about such silly pointless things.

I once wanted to remove a game and contacted support. Not refund it, but have it removed altogether, completely! Have it deleted entirely.
