Hello.
No, GOG-Chan is not some obscure GOG site feature nobody from the new generation (post 2011) knows about.
No, its not some kind of anime with GOG in the name.
Thanks to 'DawEdhel' in his/her thread What's new in GOG blog I found this:
https://www.gog.com/blog/10-fun-facts-about-gog/
...and more specifically, the 4th fact (GOG-Chan image attached):
4. GOG-Chan debuted more than 6 years ago
In June 2018, during a JRPG craze, our graphic designer, known as KosmicznaPluskwa, created the design for our beloved unofficial mascot, GOG-chan!
She quickly captured the hearts of both our employees and the community, making appearances in many sales and events since then, with countless creative iterations. We even have custom GOG-chan emojis that we use on our company chat!
So, why do I request of her return?
It's simple:
GOG's marketing through the Preservation Program has been quite strong and has been giving them results and although I do have many gripes with it (as previously discussed in many other threads), we do want GOG to successfully preserve classics and bring back to live games that can't even be played anymore.
To do that through deals with IP owners, and have that in good authority, they must show good numbers, and in fact, to show good numbers, they must sell and have good marketing to attract people.
Contrary to the popular opinion, this forum and GOG itself is not only for, and I don't like this expression for what it came to mean in some 'zoomers' circles, 'boomers'. We do have many millennials here too and some zoomers for sure. :P
GOG-Chan is a well designed mascot which could be used, together with the famous (or should I say, infamous) GOGBear, for marketing purposes for the new generation.
I can even see people cosplaying her in Twitch or Kick, or whatever, dressing their cats as GOGBear, which would be funny.
GOG's graphics designers were always known for being amazing with their arts in the past and for that we're thankful and with this thread I do hope you guys could somehow revive her in more popular circles, and not only in your internal company chat circle, as the blog explains. :)
